Has anyone gathered multiple bids from vendors and positioned them against each other to drive down the cost?  I am required to do this at work with my vendors, so I thought I might try it in the wedding world.  Just wondering if anyone had any luck with it?

Yea!  It sometimes works it sometimes doesn't.  For example, my photographer wouldn't negotiate her price, and that actually impressed my FI which surprised me.  But my florist I told her my other bids and she came down below the prices!

We did it with our reception venue, but that's about the only one we've done that with so far.

I, also, am required to 3 bid everything at work so I've used the same technique in planning.  Like others, I've had some good luck and some bad.  My DJ wouldn't negotiate at all but my venue came down over $20,000!  Also, my photographer is slowly starting to be more flexible the more that I tell him that others are offering.  So, I'd say it can't hurt to give it a try.  Good luck

I have bargained with just about all of my vendors. I don't think there has been one that has denied me.
