Dress

Have found a dress I really like, but I'm not 100% confident it's THE ONE (I'm pretty indecisive when it comes to shopping in general, so why should this be any different, lol).  So I still want to look around a bit if only for peace of mind.  I would like to keep it under $1200 (but If I HAVE to spend more I will, dress I like now just happens to be under $600, which is awesome), I have been to: I do, too in Plymouth, Bridal Couture in Birmingham, Elizabeth's in Northville, Arena in Shelby, Konja's in Berkeley & stopped in to David's but did not try anything on.  Can anyone suggest any shops to try with a great selection of mermaid/trumpet/fit n flair style gowns?  I need to make a decision and order asap!

Thanks!

Oh yeah, and unfortunately samples are out of the question since they're usually HUGE on me and I would spend a fortune in alterations.

I would suggest waiting before shopping more.  I found my dress and wasn't excatly sure about it.  I couldn't have imagined making such a big decision on the spot.  I didn't do anymore shopping because I was worried it would confuse me. I thought about it for about a week or two before going back to order it.  I LOVE my dress!

In case that is not helpful- I tried on some mermaid dresses at Nicole Michaels in Shelby Twp and found my dress at Alessandra in Warren.  I thought that they both had unique dresses that I hadn't seen at other places.

    Good luck!

ETA:  I strongly suggest thinking more about it before shopping again.  Also, my dress is not the style you are looking for, but Alessandra had quite a selection.

Ditto Laura.  Stop shopping for a bit because it sounds like you are shopped out.  Wait a few weeks and go back to the dress you liked but weren't sure about.

In the meantime, stop looking at dresses online as well.  Just take a complete break and then go back with a clear head.

Ditto PPs. I was overwhelmed with the dress search process when I tried on my dress. I liked it, but didn't get that "the one" feeling. To make things more confusing, the dress was less than half of my budget, so i felt guilty passing it up After two weeks I went back in and tried on the dress again - loved it!! I was in a better and less distracted frame of mind. Take a break. Then go back. Word of advice: you may not have the dramatic "say yes to the dress moment" and it's totally okay. If you can see yourself getting married in it, then you've found it.

When I picked my dress, I tried on maybe 4 or 5 before it and was already overwhelmed. I waited a few weeks and went back to try it on and loved it more than the first time. Like everyone said, take a break and go back in with a clear head. I went to Moni's Bridal in Farmington, and they have a toooon of dresses. Maybe they have the dress you picked that you could try on first, otherwise they have a great selection.

I will recommend my bridal shop I went to, which was Bella Bridal Gallery in West Bloomfield on Orchard Lake Rd. We told them our budget and very easliy worked within it. The ladies are very knowledgable about what dresses they have and you just tell them what you want or show pics and they will pick out all the dresses in your style and budget! They are great! You could also try Gina's in Milford. I got my veil and alterations done there. They are very helpful and are rated as one of the best in Michigan.

I have tried on a few dresses at Dior's in Dearborn and loved them. Especially Sharon at Dior, she was a sweetheart and I highly recommend making an appt with her. It's still too early for me to really look (wedding is Aug 2012) but I will def be going back there. Also they are having a Maggie Sottero trunk show April 8th & 9th if it helps....

    Good luck!!

I agree with PP about taking a break.

BUT...if you do want to try another store eventually, I highly recommend Antonio's in Birmingham. I have a trumpet style dress I got for under $900.  It was priced higher, but Vida just offered up a discount right off the bat.  Pretty awesome.  Also, Vida makes wedding dresses so she's very knowledgeable about alterations, fit, etc. And when you go try stuff on, she pins you up...no clamps or clips...which for some reason I really loved. :) Good luck!

I had a great experience at Maria's Bridal in West Bloomfield and Roma Sposa in Birmingham.  Maria's had more trumpet/mermaid gowns, though.

BTW - I'm in the exact same position.  I've tried on dress after dress and have not had the "This is THE dress" moment.  Just trying to remind myself that it doesn't (and shouldn't) happen for everyone that way and focusing on the dresses that make me feel beautiful is far easier :)

Thanks guys.  I have now tried on that same dress twice (which is half my budget as well) and I still really liked it I'm just not ready to commit I guess.  I do not have the problem of being overwhelmed, luckily.  I can usually narrow it down to a few off the racks and tell right away if I even want the sales lady to clamp it up to even consider it further.  Maybe I will check out Alessandra's since that seems to be the closest.  I don't have much time to wait since my wedding is almost exactly 8 months away and most shops ask for at least that amount of time to order.  One of the problems I have found in shopping is that the dresses that many of the stores carry are too beaded or full or have corset backs or just not simple enough for my taste. (maybe I should have mentioned that in my original post. Lol.  Thanks again ladies for all the great advice!

One line of dresses to consider it Casablanca.  They are pretty affordable and they'll do custom changes.  Just throwing it out there!

I reccommend the bridal salon I got mine from, Becker's Bridal, in Fowler.  I know it is a an hour and a half drive but worth it.  They said if you can't find a dress there you won't find one unless you go to New York.  They have thousands of dresses.  Def worth the drive.
