Please Rec your DJ

I'm interested in getting a list of top recommended DJs (and approximate pricing if available)

Also, my FI has put a strict NO rap music being played.  Is that even possible?? I thought that guests are allowed to go up and request songs to be played?

I don't have a full list, and I am using a friend of mine who is a wedding dj so I am not much help... but I know other people have said that they had a do-not play list and the dj told them to ask the B & G, or could only play it if more than 3 people requested it or something like that.

Orange county entertainment. $595 for whole reception another $100 for ceremony added on to it. They will do whatever you want if you say no rap then there will be no rap but most weddings Ive been too dont play rap anyways. Its alot of dance or hip hop at most.

I'm using E&J Entertainment. They are $850for 2 DJ's and unlimited time. They are really personal when it comes to planning everything out. They will play what you want to play and nothing you don't want. They were awesome when we met with them and open to whatever we wanted. I know Taryn just used them for her wedding and loved them!

We are using Mobile Rhythm DJ's... haven't heard one bad thing about them yet! The owner is super nice and professional.  They also have an online database where you can submit what songs are must plays, possibly play if theres time, do not play etc.  you also can classify what music you do and don't want! (also a lot of dj's will take guests requests but if the bride and groom request not to hear it, they most likely won't play it!) Let me know if you have any other questions, I don't post as much anymore but I try to get on at least once a week!

I am using Brendan from Best DJ.  Several other girls on the board are using him as well.  He is $800 for unlimited hours, all equipment and lighting, and an assistant.  Regarding playlists, with most DJs, you can usually tell them your DO NOT play list and they will not play those, regardless of whether or not someone requests it.

Info on DJ in my bio.

Same as Julie, Brendan Pfaff Best DJ.

And ditto everyone about do not play lists/requests - a good DJ will abide by your request regardless if a guest asks for it. Often they will let the guest know that the Bride/Groom said no rap or chicken dance or whatever so the guest doesn't feel they were ignored.

Tony at the Music Box is great. Music Box is a little more expensive, but they provide 2 DJ's so that one of them serves as an emcee and coordinator to keep the wedding on time and running smoothly. They offer discounts for Friday weddings, which is when ours is. I think they run around $1000 for a weekend wedding.
