Ceremony music advice needed

More advice - pretty please! Here's our situation: we will have a pianist playing for our ceremony.  I've also asked my cousin (who is a concert violinist) to play with the pianist.  This shouldn't be a problem since they are both professionals and will have learned the music ahead of time.I don't have a preference what is played during the Prelude and Postlude - I have left that up to the musicians.  However, since they don't know each other, they can't really coordinate those pieces.  So, do I have one play the Prelude and one play the Postlude?  If so, does it make more sense to have the pianist playing the Prelude since it leads into the ceremony?  Or do I just have Kristin (my cousin) play both? Thanks for any and all advice!

You could ask them if it's okay for you to give one's # to the other so that they could discuss what music they'll play. That way they can plan the songs for the pre and postlude.  HTH

Yeah, that could be an option.  I guess the only problem that may arise is my cousin lives just outside of Chicago so she's not really around for practice, etc.  I didn't want to stress them out any more than having to play together at the ceremony w/o practicing together.  LOL. Thanks for the input! :)

i really only see a major disaster if they never communicate- have them do some email or phone correspondence. they can decide on things they've both performed before or know, and go from there. professional musicians are accustomed to sight-reading and playing with people they're not necessarily familiar with. they might also be able to arrange a rehearsal the day before.
