A co-worker stayed at Hotel Allegro (I think it's South Loop?) and he really liked it.  He said the decor was cool.

I will post what Cinday and Rick gave me:The Wyndham is a nice hotel and it's right near MI Ave. It can be pretty affordable depending on when you go.As far as restaurants, I recommend:Gibsons-steaks, seafood, etc. It's excellent!Joe's Stone Crab-seafood and steaksHugo's Frog Bar-steaks, seafoodChicago Chop House-steaks, chops, etc. really good and it's a homey restaurant that's been around foreverWildfire-steaks, etc.Tavern on Rush1492 for Tapas-very romanticRose Angelis-You would need to take a cab to Lincoln Park, but it's worth it. It's a very romantic italian place.Hub 51-a fun bar/restaurant that is pretty affordable. I'm going for my bachelorette dinner (don't let that give you the wrong idea)Coast-for great sushi. You will have to take a cab for a bit, but it's sooo good, and it's BYOB, so bring a bottle of wine!Bob San-sushiCanivale-Latin cuisineSushi Samba Rio-A japanese/latin fushionUncle Julio's Hacienda-mexican...really good mexicanI tried to touch on a lot of different foods! Hope those help! - Sofitel- Either W Hotel location (City Scape or Lakefront)- Hotel Monnaco (definately look into this one, it's more a boutique, 5 star hotel with really great pricing)- HRC isn't really on Michigan Ave, it's at least 4-5 blocks, more from where the really cool Mich Ave stuff is, but regardless is a great hotel- Hilton is RIGHT on it and is way nice- Swissotel is a few blocks away, but a great hotel tooFor resturants, I'm not sure what Cindy reccomended, but if you've never done it, do Billy Goats Tavern for lunch - just to do it.

We stayed at the Days Inn Lakeshore, although I can't remember how far it was from MM.  We walked everywhere though & the only time we broke down & got a cab was coming from the park where the Buckingham Fountain stands.

The Wyndham is great, and right by the Mag Mile. Let me know if you have any other questions!
