Who did you tip for your reception?

Hey Ladies :) My Husband is stressing over who to tip this Saturday for our after the wedding celebration in our backyard. We contracted a caterer through them we got bartenders (35 an hour charge for each bartender) and the caterer has waitstaff. We asked the caterer if the hefty over 2000 service charge went toward tipping the staff and they said NO. Should we tip... and if so how much? What did you do for tipping at your wedding or what do you plan to do? Thanks! Molly

I must be a cheap a$$! We tipped the coordinator at the venue, the hair/makeup team and the DJ. I don't think anyone else went above and beyond to deserve a tip.

Oh and also, you should tip the waitstaff, but first find out what the heck you are paying $2000+ for in service charges!!!

According to their website: Service charge is not a gratuity that is shared among on-site staff. This charge pays for everything from the labor to produce the food for your event to the wear and tear on equipment to the time we spend with you designing and revising your menu. We always give you every ounce of necessary energy to make your event an absolute success.Guests should not feel obliged to offer a gratuity for good service. However, all of our staff are encouraged to go the extra mile, and so they are permitted to accept cash gratuities entirely at the discretion of our guests who wish to acknowledge particular staff members for exceptional or outstanding service. In other words, there is genuinely no need to tip but you should feel free to do so if you have a desire to acknowledge particular individuals. SOOOOO--- We are going to carry some cash and tip those who are going above and beyond as we come across this type of thing... We are going to tell family to be on the look out for great service so we tip those who deserve it! Not really happy with that service charge but can't really do anything about it now and I guess that is the owner's tip :) ha ha Thanks ladies :) So far so stressed :) ha ha
