Lake St. Clair Wedding Sites for Non-Residents?

So my FI and I recently got engaged, and we are starting to think about location for the wedding.  Both of us live in Ohio, but I'm originally from Detroit and my family is still in the area, and so we will most likely have the wedding in the metro area.  However, we're over a year out from our wedding (we haven't set a date officially, but plan on marrying after we finish school this coming academic year).I had been sort of thinking about the possibility of having the ceremony by Lake St. Clair.  Riding along the lake is one of my treasured memories of growing up, and on a recent trip to the area, my FI fell in love with the beauty of it.However, upon preliminary searching for sites, I discovered that most possible sites I knew of, like parks and clubs, were only able to be rented out by residents of those communities and private club members along the lake.  No one in my family nor any close friends live right by the lake (the closest is my mom who lives in Harper Woods), and my more "moneyed" relatives live on the other side of town and so don't have club memberships at these locations.Do any of you know of any Lake St. Clair wedding locations that are open for rental by non-residents, or any suggestions that maybe I haven't thought of?  Thanks!

I went to a wedding at Blossom Heath once. Not sure if you need to be a member there or not. I also have heard that Mac'N'Ray's can do Ceremonies near the water but I'm not sure of their capacity.

My FI parents are members of Mac Ray Marina and the Mac & Ray Resturant/Banquent center does weddings all the time, and you don't have to be a member. It's got a pretty view of the lake as well.

There is the Infinity and Ovation Yachts you can get married on...  not sure of the price but it could be something you can check into. http://www.infinityandovation.com/

The Grosse Pointe War Memorial is a possibility, however, residents get preference. You can't book your wedding until it is a year out. Only Grosse Pointers can book earlier than a year. But its not completely member's only! Also, the Detroit Yacht Club doesn't require a membership. When I visited the club, the wedding coordinator said they just find a sponsor for you.The Omni Hotel is on the river downtown and can set up a tent on the water. Gino's Surf in Harrison Township is also on the water.Hope this helps!

I used to work on the Infinity/Ovation. They do a really great job and are fabulous to you and your guests.I will warn you that their packages usually include particular vendors and if you don't use them it can sometimes be an additional charge.

You guys gave me a lot of great suggestions, thanks so much :-).  I've been to the GP War Memorial for other events, but I was under the impression on their website that either I'd have to be a resident of GP or have someone who is a military vet book it.  My uncle is a vet but I'm not sure if I'd want to depend on him to do that.   I can probably call the GPWM to be sure, though.  The Detroit Yacht Club (though on the Detroit River and not LSC) is a good suggestion too...my senior prom was held there, and it's a beautiful facility. In any case, I'll have plenty to check out....thank you guys for all the suggestions!

You can definately book at GPWM if you are not a resident or vet, like the PP, no more than a year out. Just call and ask. We had our reception at the Roostertail on the River, and they have a ceremony site as well. Everyone else has mentioned the other places. Rattlesnake Club is also right near the Omni and does ceremonies and receptions on the water as well.

Just a heads up- Mac & Rays does wedding ceremonies but inside only. They actually split off part of the reception room and do the ceremony there, have your guests go to the other side for cocktail hour while they set up the ceremony side for the reception afterward. We are having our reception there and were considering the ceremony, too, until we learned they don't do them outside. HTH!
