DJ / Entertainment...?

We are looking around for a DJ to play at our reception.  I've heard good things about Encore Entertainment (Rob) and Capitol City Sound.  Is there anyone else we should check out??  Who are you using?

Looked at Rob, but booked Night Music instead. NM was not cheesy or cocky at all, and said their 1st priority was making sure the bride and groom were happy, then guests as the 2nd. Rob made it sound like it was the other way around, and wasn't really open to us creating a playlist and focused on top 40 music- totally not us! We had Jodi from NM for our wedding and she was absolutely fabulous! See my review about her further down the board.

We used CoopDog Productions. The owner is Donovan Cooper and he has a partner Jaime. They were awesome to work with and did a fantastic job. They were really reasonable as well. Donovan went to school with DH's older brother, so it was nice to have the connection.

We are using first class dj out of willard ohio. He is great and really focused on what we want for our big day. He has done a ton of weddings so i feel confident that he can handle anything that is tossed his way.
http://www.firstclassdj.org he does charge for travel but considering what we are getting it's totally worth the cost. We are having him do our outdoor ceremony, reception dj and he is doing the uplighting at the reception hall as well. Lots of great info on his web site and NO HIDDEN FEES

I don't agree at all with what pp said about Rob from Encore. His priority was CERTAINLY on us, the bride and groom!  And he was soooo open to our crazy playlist . . . which was very heavily 80's. Even things that he said "people can't/won't dance to that" he played because we wanted it.
    He was fabulous!!!!

We are using Ryan Smith (www.ryansmithdj.com). I think he'll be great to work with and he is very well-recommended, as you can see from all of the reviews linked to his website. We're paying a little more for him than I originally wanted to spend, but a huge plus is that his cost also covers him doing all of the ceremony music and ceremony audio stuff (microphones, etc.) as well as the reception. Our ceremony and reception are at two different places, and he is going to be spending like 10 hours with us, doing music at both locations for one flat fee! :)

I also disagree with the negative comment about Encore Entertainment. During our initial meeting with Rob, we discussed that we would not want Top 40 music, and he was very clear that we could have whatever music we wanted. Our wedding isn't until next April, but so far I am very pleased with Encore. I chose Encore because they are a preferred vendor at my reception location and based on their great reviews on Wedding Wire.

We are going with Todd from TEAM DJ. I heard great things about them from a few friends. When we met he was really nice and not cheesy, they also have a great search tool online for selecting your songs. They really listen to what you want played and what you absolutely do not want played. Also, the price is reasonable.

We used Brian Days of Daze entertainment...he was super affordable $300 for 4 hours, and he was great!  He only played songs from our playlist, and wasn't cheesy or corny.  I highly recommend his business!

I plan on using Rob from Encore. I have worked along side him (he dj'ed weddings that I had served) and his number 1 focus is always on the Bride and Groom. He has a great personality to bring people together and is super energetic and friendly. When I met with him to discuss options, he was very honest and open about styles and the way that he liked to work (which was focused on smooth transitions and high energy). He was also very professional and the layouts he had for coordinating the night are planned down to the minute. I have no doubt that Rob will be the best fit for my wedding and I feel that he is able to mesh to whatever styles his clients are. Laughing
