Ordained friend is it legit in Mich?!? HELP!

OK, so we asked a friend to officiate our wedding and he got ordained at the Universal Life Church online. I'm just trying to cover my bases and make sure our marriage will then be legit!

I asked the (Wayne) County Clerk and they were NO. HELP. Couldn't tell me, told me to "hope for the best" and shrugged!

Our wedding is two weeks away. I NEED THIS INFO AND I'M FREAKING OUT!!! Surely we aren't the first ppl to do this! Surely they have been asked before?!

Also, our friend is a resident of Georgia...soooo...yeaaahhh. Any help would be awesome!!! THANK YOU!!!

    My MOH's DH is Ordained and have never heard of anyone having problems.

    My FBIL became ordained online through the Universal Life Church to marry my FSIL/FBIL this past weekend. I saw the marriage certificate myself and everything looked official.

    Hey,
    I have decided to do the exact same thing.  When I called my county clerk (St Clair County) they basically told me the same thing.  So I contacted my Congressman (I was freaking out and anal about it too.) and he told me to call the Lansing.  I talked to a very helpful lady named ellen.  Her number is 517-335-9826.  She told me as long as he is Ordained by the Universal Life Church, signs the marriage certificate and sends it in with in 30 days after the wedding you will have no problem!  Please call her.  She will put your mind at ease!!!!

    My aunt just got ordained online through the same church.  She is our officiant and I have known other people to use the same website.  It is legit.
