Affordable flowers

I'm getting married in September 2010 at the Detroit Symphony Orchestra Hall in Detroit.  Anyone have tips on how to find affordable flowers in the area, and which ones are appropriate for a fall wedding?

Any help will be much appreciated!!

It depends on what your idea of "affordable" is.  I just met with Liz from The Parsonage on Wednesday and I loved her. And she definitely fits my own idea of affordable.

I know nothing about flowers and I went in with a number in my head hoping that I wouldn't be heartbroken after talking with her. I was pleasantly surprised at what she quoted me for bouquets/bouts.

I just got married 9/19/09 and I ordered my flowers from Costco. Call Lilly. They were 8.99 a bunch of 8. Toatl cost of all my flowers was 247. Then again I did everything myself. Bouts, centerpieces and bouquets.

I'm a DIY kind of person, and the images on Costco.com look amazing. Click on "floral" at the top. You can have them do the arrangements, or order in bulk (100 white roses for $75) and have the location or your caterer do the arrangements for you.

If you don't want real flowers, there is a GREAT store on the north side of 10 Mile Rd just east of Van Dyke in Warren called Discount Floral. You can get any centerpiece components in silk, plus silver or gold branches, pearlized stuff, VERY inexpensive. They also have votives and holders very inexpensive (I just got several boxes of 12 votives for $4 each, and glass votives are as low as 50 cents each). Lovely glass vases, square, round, short, tall, are priced from $1 to $20. They have a couple of bridal aisles on the far left with tons of stuff. Your eyes will pop in amazement when you walk in.

Our plans right now are to order real flowers from Costco, fill in with some silver components from Discount Floral in vases we get from there, and use the candles & votives from there. The caterer or facility can set them up for you. We are going to put paper under a couple of plates at the tables and announce to everyone to check under their plates, and they may have won the centerpiece or candles. This saves on having to gather everything up afterward, and makes the "winners" happy. Just an extra "favor" to go home with.

    Good luck.
