WOW!! Sphynx are definitely a rarity in Michigan! too cold here for them :(
How exciting- someone to share my naked love with!!
Have you checked out the website: Sphynxlair.com . It's similiar to TK with the forums, but ALL sphynx related!!
These babies are so amazing you can't have just one :) We bought our first one Bronx-e from a breeder but the other two were rescues/adoptions. What about you??

The weather here does suck for hairless babies. That's why our heating bills are so high! I am just in LOVE with sphynxs. They really are different from regular cats. Ours are more like dogs (especially my baby Muli) They are trained to not come up when we are eating or sleeping unless invited, they can high-five, come when called, and chase their tail on command. I will have to check out that website when I am less sleepy! The boys were from breeders, and Bit-sa was kind of a rescue. Muli's full name is Buddha Muli Mittens, and Little Bit was Calva (the goddess of bald women) but the name is kinda harsh for a little lady. I sound like the crazy cat lady, but I was only a dog person before I got my Moo 3 years ago. I still love my dogs, but that d@mn cat owns me!

Haha, i can relate SO well!! my FI refused to get a cat for the longest time! and i have horrible pet allergies. But i got my way and he surprised me on day with Bronxe (my white boy). he IS my baby. my kitty soulmate. (yes i'll admit to being the crazy cat lady)
Your Muli, is the breeder in Groose Pointe? or something like that... i think i know who that is. Our Bronx-e was bought from someone in the Flint area.

My babies are Bronxe- He's my heart and soul. He came to use (from a breeder) with a lot of medical problems. He is 3.5 yr old. From day one has had issues with IBS/IBD (in cats), chronic URI's, and currently is living with terminal lymphoma cancer. He was diagnosed in aug with 1-3months to live. It's been about 8. However he hasn't been acting real well the last few days.. it worries be to pieces.
Bea was a little girl we found on Craigslist. Her family owned 2 Sphynx but decided to give her up because of a skin allergy she had. Apparently her skin was excessively oily and affected the husbands allergies. She'll be 5 this summer. Her skin cleared up right away with us. I believe her owners were bathing her WAY too often.
Winny is our newest addition. Bea's family after a year and half decided they didn't want the other girl either. They called us up one day offering her to us as well. Of course i couldn't say know. She's very sassy and VERY vocal but such an amazing little girl.

My babies were recently feature in a book called "to love a sphynx". Are you familiar with HCM? it's  heart disease that GREATLY affects Sphynx kitties.

Ooooh kitty soul-mate. That is my Moo!! Crazy cat lady right here! Fi wanted cats since we met, but my allergies are awful. I have become very allergic to my pups, but the furless babies are perfect. We got Muli from a breeder in a trailer park off 59. They had been down on their luck and had to move there and sell some of there babies. She actually offered to just give me one of her girls when I bought Moo. What a idiot I was when I said no. I didn't know how the dogs would do with a kitty, of course they do great! The sphynx are like potato chips, you can't have just one!!
Eggy boy was a fluke find. I love to look on craigs and kijiji at all the pups and kitties. The breeder was somewhere bfe in Indiana and had him at a unbelievable price. I think he might be a F2 sphynx. He is pretty hairless most of the year, but in winter he gets long peach fuzz over most of his body.
Little bit (LB) was from a girl who was trying to breed her. She does not have regular heats and only bred once for her. She didn't want her so we picked her up. Our boys are fixed so no worry about little Little Bits LOL.
I am so sorry about your Bronxe. Every day is a cherished gift. My oldest pup is my Luna. She is a rottweiler and turns 10 this year. I know she will pass soon. So every day I get the hives on my arms when she get loves. I try to enjoy every day.
Most people have no idea how to care for a sphynx. I can't tell you how many vets tried to convince me my kitties have mites. Every time they test. Every time their fine. It's a sphynx thing people! I would think a vet would know that. The oil is a issue, but you can't over wash them! It encourages the oil.
Our LB is a little vocal when she is in and out of heat. I am tempted to get her fixed, but every time I get one of my guys fixed it seems to bring a cold home.
I will check out that book. I have heard of HCM, but don't know much about it. How cool to be involved in a book!

Where about in the area are you? I go to Dr. Wilson (in Sterling heights and romeo) their office is amazing and seem to do VERY well with my babies. I've actually never had them mistake ear mites- but i could see where they'd get that if not knowing the breed. My babies are BAD, BAD, BAD at bath time!! i take them to a groomer because i look like a bloody mess after bathtime and with my allergies.. just can't do it. i get hives all over lol.
Here's the link to the book: http://toloveasphynx.weebly.com/order-form.html
It's kind of expensive but ALL the proceeds go towards HCM research. The "author" is taking money to pay the expenses for the the book but is not making an profit. Any profit is being donated to the research project.

Do you have FB? I have lots of pictures of my babies on there lol :)
