Can't find a venue!! Help!

We just started planning our wedding for October 8th, 2011. I didn't expect that we would have to rush, until I started calling on venues. I have learned that it seems as if October 8th is a very busy day.... We can't really be flexible because we found a photographer that we absolutely love, so we don't want to give that up.

Anyway, I am looking for venue ideas in and around the Milford or Clarkston area. Also considering closer to the Detroit Metro area at this point. I have found some beautiful options, but they are not quite in my budget, so I am looking at places that are about $50-60 a plate.

Please Help! Thank you!

I'm pretty sure there are plenty of venues available for your date and within your budget. You just have to do more research.

    Baker's of Milford

Hawthorne Valley Country Club in Westland

Have you tried the Pine Knob Mansion in Clarkston?

Make yourself a list of the available venues in your preferred areas and call them. Make a spreadsheet of what they offer, they're minimum guest requirement, if they're available on your day and price per guest. Afterwards go to each venue and check them out for yourself, then make your decision.

Also, if it comes down to it I'm sure your photographer would switch their day with you as long as you gave them a deposit and still booked with them.  I know mine offered when I knew that I wanted him but was unsure of my date.

    Good Luck!

Mystic Creek in Milford...  That and Bakers are the only two places in that immediate area able to have a wedding.

There is a golf course in Commerce (near lake sherwood) but I forget what its called - went to a wedding there years ago and it was very pretty and food was decent... brentwood maybe?

How many people are you having? Also, check the post-it at the top of the board to see other venues that locals have used.

Our wedding is at Shepherd's Hollow in Clarkston on October 1st.  They max out at 120 guests, but it is a beautiful place.  Check it out.

Thank you for all of the help! I actually found 4, well 3 1/2 (one has a hold on it) that I have appointments to check out this weekend! One of which is Sheperd's Hollow!

We're having ours at Oak Arbor in Rochester (both the ceremony and reception in the same place, which is very nice!)
They're two "preferred" caterers are Kosch and Tapestry. We were going to go with Tapestry until we found River Crest Catering, which is cheaper and we really liked them. :-)

We're getting married 11/11/11, which obviously filled up fast so we had to start planning ASAP. Now that I have the top-priority details taken care of, I feel so relieved to be able to relax a little less than 10 months before the big day. (Embrace the early planning, it'll be rewarding later on)

    Gooooood luck girl! xo
