I totally need mine cleaned too- poor thing is DIRTY! lol

I'm debating getting it cleaned, but may just send it out for cleaning/preservation. I got a coupon from David's to get it done for $99.

I'm really not sure I'm even going to get mine cleaned! haha
I had to pay almost $200 to have it pressed before the wedding, & they said it would be even more to clean or preserve it.
Don't get me wrong...it is FILTHY! But I really don't want to shell out that kind of money!

I don't see my future daughter ever wearing it, because I'm hoping she'll be super stylish & have no interest in my old out-dated wedding dress ;) haha. Also, if I want to make a christening outfit or baby blanket out of it or something, there is plenty of good clean material on the upper part of the skirt that could be used. All the gunk that's on the bottom could just be cut off at that time.

    I dunno...just my 2 cents :)
I'm curious what most people do tho :)

hmm..I knew it would be expensive to clean and I am TOTALLY AGAINST HOW MUCH IT COST..LOL But DH (ha! can't believe he is my hubby-LOL) wants to clean it and have it boxed up all pretty and stuff. I'm like whatev...lol

Hopefully I can wiggle my way into a hook up for cleaning..we'll see.

I got an estimate from a place in Berkley that speciaizes in cleaning and preserving, and they ESTIMATED $220. That's before they even see what condition it's in- I bet it goes up after that.

I doubt anyone is going to wear my dress, but you never know. The most amazing part of my dress was the bodice- the bottom isn't fancy enough for me to want to destroy the dress to wrap a kid in it for a baptism or whatever.

IDK. My friend had her's cleaned/preserved through David's Bridal and she thought they did a good job.

Really, I think I should just go with my original plan to clean the house in it. If only it was a zipper instead of a tie-back.

I don't know what to do with my dress either.  I LOVE it.  I want to find a way to wear it again!!  I might clean the house in it too!  Maybe we could all meet for a fancy dinner in our dresses.  We could be like the red hat ladies but we'll be in white dresses!!

Anyway, I don't know what to do with it.  I don't think the fabric would make a good cristening gown.  I'm not thrilled about spending $200ish just to box it up.

    Interesting conversation!

Oooh- we could be like that episode of Friends where Phoebe is pregnant with the triplets and she, Monica & Rachel are all hanging out watching movies in wedding gowns!!!! How fun! :)

    Oooo, I forgot to mention....

I already started hinting to DH even before the wedding that a TTD session would be an amazing 1st anniversary present!!! haha

He's brought up more than once that he'd be into that too....So yet another reason for me NOT to want to get it cleaned, if we're just gonna go get it dirty anyways! :)
(I would never do an extreme TTD, but to be able to go out & enjoy fun pictures without having to worry about totally ruining my dress would be awesome!)

I take all my dry cleaning and plan to take my wedding gown to Janet Davis. There's one on Woodward, but I go to the one on Maple and Lahser. Roma Sposa recommends them to their brides, so I figured they were the best. So far, I've been very happy with them.

Janet Davis is who quoted me $220 for cleaning & preservation...

I've been mulling over a TTD, also... I reeeeealy wanted to work with Amanda Wiilliams, but she was booked, so I thought a TTD might be a great way to do it..... Not sure I can talk hubby into it, but he wants to spend $1,600 on kayaks, so if he gets them, GAME ON!

I take everything to Earl Cleaners in Clawson (Rochester & 14.5). They charged me $125 for cleaning and preservation of my dress. They even did my veil and crinoline (sp?).  HTH
