About a month ago, we had an appointment to meet with the coordinator at the Palazzo Grande in Shelby Twp. My dad had been there for some republican convention thingy awhile ago and told my mom that's where I needed to have my reception... I fell in LOVE. It's GORGEOUS. But - Holy Cow - expensive. My dad picked the most expensive hors d'oeuvres, most expensive entree (filet mignon and chicken on ONE plate? seriously?), most expensive desserts, added valet parking - etc, etc.
Then, when it comes time to sign the contract, he said it was too expensive! (I'll put prices at the bottom in case any of you are interested in the palazzo). So, he started looking at banquet halls in our home town (very teeny tiny swampville in the thumb). I was going nuts. Why would he show me the ritz and then want me to have my wedding in the basement of a pizza hut? (not really)
So - I started to compromise. "Hey dad, why don't we cut the apps, serve chicken, and make them eat cake for dessert?" "No, chels - if we're having valet parking, we have to have filet mignon" "okay... what if we cut the valet parking?" "well it's only $2/guest.." "okay, how about instead of roses, we use a cheaper flower for my centerpiees?" "yeah, but I really like roses..."
DADZILLA!!!
But, he finally realized he wants this wedding as much as I do, and he put the deposit and the contract in the mail this week!! YAYYYYYY!!!!!!

this is the wedding they were setting up when we met with the coordinator - I want this wedding!!

carved fruit and cheese!
My Prices (if interested - prices are per guest):No fee to have the ballroom, just a minimum guest count depending on which ballroom you choose. For ours, our minimum 265 guests for a 90' x 65' ballroom.
Valet Parking - $2
Hors d'oeuvres - fruit & cheese display (carved! very cool looking) $4.95
Entree - (salad, pasta, potato, vegetable, chicken & filet mignon) - $61.95
Dessert - deluxe fruit and french pastry table - $6.95
It all adds up to a pretty scary number - but a standard open bar is INCLUDED in the dinner price, so I actually think the prices are pretty reasonable for all that we're getting!
