Is it bad luck to use the items you get from your registry before the wedding?

It's not bad luck (that I know of) but it's a breach of ettiquette.  You are not supposed to use any wedding gifts until after the wedding.  If the wedding doesn't happen, ettiquette says you must return the gifts and you can't return a gift if its been used.

However, if you don't tell anyone, I don't see the harm.  As long as you are aware that you must replace the gift if the wedding doesn't happen.

I don't see any problem with using your shower gifts. I don't really think its necessary to wait until after the wedding to use them. Clearly you registered for them because you need them. Why wait? We are waiting to use all of our things, but that's because we are in the process of moving. Once we get moved into the house, I plan on taking everything out of the packaging and washing everything for use. PP did make a good point that you may want to wait in case the wedding doesn't happen. But you do whatever you want!
