When to pay off vendors?

Is it best to just put a deposit down, and wait until the wedding day to completely pay them off?  Or when the money is availible, should we pay them off right then?  I'm just worried that some vendors will not go out of their way as much if they already have their money.

I wouldn't pay off your vendors totally upfront. I ended up not using two of my original vendors (because of issue's) on our wedding day, so ultimately I only lost my deposits.

The rest of my vendors didn't require that I pay up front either. They required a deposit to "hold" our date, and then final payments were due two weeks before the wedding. I didn't notice any lack of response or effort because they weren't paid in full up front.

We only paid the deposits.   I would wait to pay them off until you have to.  Like pp said if you have to cancel them or something they don't have all your money.  Also it gives you more time to save up.

I would only pay what their contract says to pay when it says to pay.  We just did the deposit and then any other payment in-between that we were supposed too.  Whenever we would get extra money (like for gifts and tax time), we put the money in another account so we had it ready, and then we were able to earn a little interest on it too!
