B-maids Dress Color Opinion

What would you think if my four bridesmaids were in different dresses in different shades of green? Possibly some long and some short.

I want honest opinions - you won't hurt my feelings I promise!

IMO, I like seeing all the BM's in the same color, but you could have you MOH in a long dress and the BM's in a short dress. The BP doesn't need to have the same dress, just the same color.

I'm considering doing different dresses but all in the same fabric and color.  I do like the different shades of the same color idea but I was too scared to pull it off.  And I'm not very good at picturing things in my head so I just didn't feel confident enough to do it.  If you can really picture it in your head and you like it - then go for it!

I think you'd have to do it very very carefully.  There are so many shades of green that you want to make sure they don't look hideous together.  I like the look of variety, especially if you're going for a more "casual" look.  But if its done wrong, it would just look sloppy.

Do you have specific dresses/colors in mind?

I am all for being different! I love the idea of different shades of green as long as they are all similar. i.e. someone should not be wearing neon green and someone else in forest green. EW. Personally I don't mind the different lengths or cuts either. I think as long as you coordinate then it looks great.

For my wedding, I let my BM choose the dress but I kept to the same color. I would've let them do different shades but the dress they chose (same one actually) didn't come in different shades of the color I wanted. Anyway, they came as a Tea Length, but one of my BM is having hers knee lenth with straps and the other is having hers tea length with no straps.

I've seen a few weddings on the knot with different colors and it looks awesome. As for different shades, I'd be afraid of how far off the colors were. If you did different colors but the same material it would look fabulous

I think it would be nice.  Just make sure you approve the dresses and color before they purchase them.

Thanks ladies - I think the point about the contrasting potenial is good I didn't think about some combinations.

I'll probably just pick something and go with it.

I LOVE the idea. I had considered it. Depending on if you were going for a darker green theme or a lighter green theme and time of year.

For Example pick shades next to each other :

and all in the same fabric. I saw one wedding where they did the same thing but with pinks and the one who stood closest to the bride wore the lightest color and then the got darker shades the farther back they went. It was GORGEOUS. She had 5 bridesmaids so it was a really cool effect. The guys had ties and pocket squares that matched the corresponding bridesmaid they were paired with.

I think it could be really pretty, depending on the shades.  I really like the middle set of colors that terbear posted above.  I'm a visual person and I wasn't sure about it until I saw the colors above.

Terbear - seeing the colors actually made me change my mind and want to do this. Thanks a bunch!

I am glad that I could be of help! I considered it as well- just not with green. But I like the idea- especially because even if it has been done before, it's not the same visual concept which people have come to expect. Which is perfectly ok, but every wedding I have been to has been the exactly the same  as the last one ( Almost literally- my family had a lot of female cousins in the same years so the same 6 girls have been in all 6 weddings and within 10 miles of each other with the same meal, chicken and mostaccolli) so I was looking for something a little bit different.
