Review of Jen MacPherson formerly from Amanda Williams

Since I know that she is recommended here I would give my honest opinion on Jen Macpherson.  I see that is no longer with her from other posts.  I don't know the situation from her leaving but I had not heard from her since my Dec wedding.  I received an e-mail from Amanda last week about my pictures and from there I gather that she would be handling them from there.  I feel that she could have at least contact me to let me know that she was longer with Amanda and that Amanda would be handling my photo's.  I got worried when I read that post about her being MIA.  As for Jen herself, I found her to be very nice and friendly.  she seems like a great person.  As for her work I will say that I'm a little disappointed.  Not with the photo's in general but with the particular shots.  I feel that there were some key shots that were missed.  One was my entrance into the chapel.  There was only one and it was from far away and a little blurry.   I was really looking forward to that one.  I feel that shots that there should have been multiples of weren't taken and ones that I really didn't need were.  I have more than I needed of my bouquet and rings and only a few of me actually walking down the aisle.  If you really want certain shots I suggest that you talk in more detail with her and let her know.  I wish she would have had more ideas on different poses/shots.    I had many ideas for that day but everything just went out the window.  You have more important things to think about than photo's ideas.  I would still recommend her but make sure you let her know what shots are most important to you.  If you have any question feel free to pm me

I'm really sorry to hear this. A lot of girls are using/considering Jen and this was good info to post. Photos are an important part of the wedding. It sounds like you put a lot of work into talking about what you wanted but there were still some missed shots. I plan to have more talks with my photog closer to the wedding to make sure we are on the same page with the "essential" pics. PS - I like the updated pics in your sig- the color really pops!

Thanks,  I haven't had a chance to really go over them and pick out the ones I really like. When I have more time I will go though them and create a link.

So glad you posted this and further reaffirms our decision to back out of our contract with Jen and go with another photog.  Thank you!

One thing you have to think about with a photographer is that they can't read your mind. For my first wedding, I hired a really expensive, highly recommended photographer and I really hated my photos. I didn't get a photo with my grandpa, etc...but i just thought to myself after that i never told him exactly what i wanted and didn't give him specific shots i wanted. This is very important...while you can hire a great photographer, it might not be what you want. That is something i plan on giving this time is a shot list. That way they know exactly what you want and there is no "gray" area. I did hire Jen and i'm sticking with her, she did an amazing job on my engagement photos and i'm very excited to work with her on my wedding.
