Michigan-Detroit

I need a vernue

Hey girls...

I have been on the Toledo board. I am still looking for a venue. There is one place that I like, keeping my options open, I am wondering what kind of places there are in Detroit. We are from Monroe.

We are going to have about 125 people and have a budget of 10K-12K. Its going to be a vintage style wedding, shades of pink and grey are our colors.

Thank you

what time of year is your wedding? you may want to consider the Ann Arbor area, which would be much closer then the detroit area. Will your family be traveling from Monroe to Detroit if you choose to have the wedding in detroit?
i only know of one place to rec, which would be Cobblestone in Ann Arbor. it's beautiful but depends on what time of year you wedding is.

Cobblestone in Ann Arbor is beautiful.  The Michigan Union is gorgeous, too, and would fit in with a vintage style.

Have you looked at LaRoy's in LaSalle?  That's where we had our reception.  It was really reasonably priced, looked nice, and very neutral... it could easily work with a vintage theme.

Have you considered looking into some bed and breakfasts or historic hotels?

I actually googled bed and breakfasts monroe michigan and clicked on the map option, and all kinds of things popped up.  Also, Monroe has a lot of beautiful historic houses that might be willing to let you use their grounds.  You might have some luck if you call the Monroe Historical Society.

I peeked at your bio and see your anticipated wedding date is 4/12/12.

When I was looking around for a great chapel, I remembered the IHM motherhouse in Monroe.........not sure if you have to be Catholic to get married at the chapel there, but they do have rental/banquet facility. Link for catering info here:

    Also don't know about alcohol.

If you want to stay not too far from Monroe, try these: Links at Lake Erie (Monroe), Stony Creek Banquet Center (Flat Rock), Arnaldo's (Riverview- it's where mine will be!), Crystal Gardens (Southgate).

My parents are from Monroe, my venue is Stone Creek Banquet Hall in Flat Rock, which is very pretty. But the sticky at the top of the board gives great suggestions! I have the same number of guests as you, and I know that one thing I was unhappy with at some venues (Webers in Ann Arbor, for example) force you into a smaller, not as nice room since you don't have 200 or 300 guests. Be sure to ask places about that!

Links at Lake Erie has really good pricing, but good luck getting ahold of their coordinator, I couldn't get her to return a call or e-mail for the life of me.
