Special prices for winter weddings?

I keep hearing that many places offer special pricing for winter weddings, but everyone I have talked to seems to have a flat rate. Does anyone know of specific venues that do special pricing? I live in the Dearborn area, but I was also looking at Roseville/Clinton Township.

Re: Special prices for winter weddings?

  • I know that Cherry Creek in Shelby Twp does...

I think a lot of Golf Courses do discounted rates in the winter!

I can't think of any specifically off the top of my head, but majority of venues have a cheaper price for "the off season" which is either November or December until February or March.

And Fridays are often cheaper, too.

  • I'm getting married at MacRay Harbor, and while they don't have "cheaper rates" they don't require that you spend a certain amount.  I believe the "no minimum" season is October through March...

  • My wedding is this month and every venue I had a meeting with has an "off season" discount or pricing. Most wedding vendors that should/will/need to offer a discount. We live in Michigan and most don't love the snow and weather like I do, so most do not get married this time of the year, no matter what vendors try to tell you. If they don't give you some sort of discount then they shouldnt win your business. It's just how it works, supply and demand. Most won't offer the discount up front, you have to ask them and negotiate.
  • Fernhill Country club had a winter special (42.50pp) - incl app, champaign display, 2 ent, dessert, snack, chair cover, sash, prem bar, centerpiece of 34pp without centerpieces and chair covers
Fox Hills Country Club depending on the room 53-82ppm incl tax/tip, that price is including the special 8 off per person, plus 2 free upgrades (bar 1 tier, candy stations, midngiht snack, 2 tray passed app) 6 hour bar, app, 2-3 ent, pasta, starch, veg, toast- all, room, linens, if enough book the hotel there is a free shuttle, they do charge 100+ to put out favors, and centerpieces
la Fayette Grand they offered some freebies prices were 33-39 pp - 5 hr bar, 1 app, 1 snack, desert table (fruit, tarts, brownie), ice sculpture, toast all, cake cutting, linenes, pasta salads, veg/crackers to start
laurel Manor had a special 54pp - incl tax and tip - 5.5 hr bar, 6 hr hall, veg tray, linens, coat room, cake (if you bring ur own take 2.5 of pp), you get 2 comp upgrades (centerpiece, pizza, toast for all, or 1 app)

Most halls did not send me the special offers, however many said they would work with your budget, and I am sure since they are starving for business they are willing to offer freebies, the average discount is 10-30% off that most places will offer for an off season event. Hope this helps.
  • Thanks for the specific information! It is a great place to start.

  • I know you said you're in Dearborn...the Italian American Club in Livonia gave us Friday pricing on a Saturday plus all kinds of freebies since we're getting married in November.

  • yes ! our wedding is set for december 7th of this year and basically everything we've booked has been discounted! Crystal Gardens is where were having the reception and ceremony. CG's gave us a discount PP price $27.50 PP rather than $35 and they also gave us the standard open bar package for free. We went to Iversons for cakes and they gave us a good deal. Also, our photo booth has been knocked down from $695 to $495. Honestly, just ask! I know for a fact some vendors would not have offered unless we brought it to their attention!
