Perhaps a silly question

If we are only having the wedding party and immediate family at our rehearsal dinner, do I need to send out invites or is word of mouth acceptable?  I would only have to order less than 10 invites, but I just don't want to seem ridiculous if they all are already aware of it.

We just told people via phone/email. It seemed ridiculous to sent out invites to our immediate family.

Thanks!  I thought it seemed like overkill.

Not a dumb question I was wondering this too!

We sent out invites, but the majority of the BP actually asked if they would be getting an invite so they remember. I had them made by my DOC and she didn't charge me anything so it didn't cost anything :)

We just used word of mouth... and a facebook message.  Klassy, I know : )

We did paper invites because of our friends.  We knew if we didn't send them a piece of paper with date, time, and address on it we could get 750 calls asking about it.  We also invited a lot of OOT family that does not "typically" attend a rehearsal dinner and we thought it would be easier for them as well if they had all the pertinent information on paper to bring with them on the trip :)

But, FWIW, I don't think invitations are necessary at all.  I've been in a number of weddings, and brides have done it both ways...paper invite and by word of mouth.

Our families and my friends will be getting emails.  FI's friends will need the piece of paper as a reminder but luckily they all live close so I will just hand them out.

We sent paper invites. It's a semi-formal dinner, so we thought actual invitations were appropriate, even though it will only be about 15 people. If you're just ordering pizza or something, invitations would seem out of place.

If you are doing an informal dinner, you can do invites, email invite, or phone invite.

We did paper invites, but I did pocketfold invitations and just added an extra insert for them, so that it wasn't much extra printing and no extra postage.
