Hey Lady!

I was thinking about you all weekend. How did it go with the venues?

UGH! I feel like I am still at square one.

I checked out Roma on Saturday. Their prices are good but I don't really care for how it's set up. They're located in a strip mall and their parking is very narrow.

I went to church yesterday and decided to stop by Burton Manor on my way home, they were closed! So I went by Farmington Hills Manor, they were closed as well but the door was unlocked so I went in. I spoke to the manager there, he didn't seem too interested in giving me a deal but I think their prices are reasonable for what they are offering and the room is absolutely beautiful!! I wanted to take FI back there today but they were closed! GRRR!!!  I just love the room there, I wish they were closer to the church.

We went to check out Burton Manor, they worked with us a little bit and showed us the room that they had available. I was not impressed with the room size. The dance floor was very small and in the middle, I just felt like with the tables set up and the head table it would be cramped so she showed us a room set up on the opposite side with its own entrance.

I'm even tempted to check out Laurel Manor, a lot of people have told me that they work with you within your budget, if that's the case, that would be nice, although, I have not been able to go there to talk to anyone or look at their rooms.

How's it going with you?? Have you received your deposit back yet???

OMG I went to the Farmington Hills Manor on Saturday. I did not get to see the ballroom they were having something in there but everything else looked nice and I agree with you on the price. The guy did not seem like he was trying to work a deal either and with the other event going on he was kind of rushing us. He told us to come back during the week and he would be more accommodating. FI and I were and I going to go up there today since we were both off but we decided not to I am glad we didn't since they were closed.

I just cant do burton manor they are booked on our date and I have been there at least 3 times in the past year for sports banquets and I just don't think wedding when I think of them. I thought Laurel was out of my price range but if they are working deals I might have to check them out. Wouldn't that be something if we ended up at the same place again?

Lucky for us we don't have a church booked yet so that is our only saving grace right now as far as the location of the reception hall.

I think we will go back up there on Wednesday or Thursday. We had the manager put a hold on our date and it lasts 5 days so we need to make a decision quickly.

P.S. I did not know that Roma was in a strip mall. That is crazy!

Where do you have your date held at? & Have you gotten your deposit back from HVCC yet?

I feel the same way with Burton Manor and Laurel Manor, I didn't want to check them out at all in the beginning of the planning process. But we're in this bind, we have to take all things into consideration.

It would be neat if we were at the same place again! :) We should make a deal wherever we go that if they book with us we'll guarantee the other will book them as well. LOL :)

I was emailed Laurel's packet, I can email it to you. Their prices are pretty expensive, but I've talked to FI's family who just had their reception there and they said they didn't think it was that expensive (as what is on the packet they emailed me) So I was thinking if you go in there and tell them that this is the food that HVCC was offering for this price, are you able to do the same for around the same price? If not, then we'll just have to move on, it's worth a shot, right?
Picture of Roma in Strip mall. It's next to a Little Ceasar's, laundry mat, bakery and something else.

I have the date on Hold at Farmington Hills Manor and the Polish American Cultural Center and the Ukrainian Cultural Center.

Yes I finally got my deposit back. I cashed the check ASAP . I was worried that I was going to have a problem since they spelled my darn name wrong but I didn't and I was extra grateful for that.

Yes please email me the packet. I doubt if they will have my date available but it is worth a try.

The two people at the cultural centers seemed like they were really trying to work with us. The Farmington Hills guys was kind of rushing but when we called back he was apologetic he just said he was so busy with the other event. When we go back up there this week we will see if he changes his tune.

On no not next to a laundry mat and little ceasar's that is not good!
