Reception Venue Struggle

Hello Ladies,

I am wondering if any of you can help me out with some suggestions for a reception venue. I have searched the stickies above, and am still coming up empty handed on ideas :-)

I am looking for a place within roughly 30-40 minutes of Downriver, that can accommodate around 170 guests, that is somewhere in the neighborhood of $50 (+/- a few dollars) per person. I know there are a few in my immediate area (Crystal gardens, Arnaldo's, Grecian Center etc...), but I am trying to avoid hosting our wedding at a place that we have already been to a ton of events at.

I had no idea what a challenge this was going to be, so any feedback would be greatly appreciated :-)

I dunno if Livonia is too far away from  you but I'm having my reception at St Mary's Cultural Center and you bring in your own liquor so it saves a lot of money.

We checked out Silver Shores and Stone Creek and both were really great. I personally loved Silver Shores a bit more and they have many packages to choose from that should be in your price range plus they are right on the water. I know both places can fit 170 because we have a guest count of 200 :)

Silver Shores is awesome! My sister had her reception there in November, and the food and customer service were amazing. I am trying to avoid most of the places Downriver, mostly because I have been to roughly 15 weddings in the last 18 months, and would really like to do something that all of my friends haven't already done/seen.

I don't know if this is too far out, but LaRoy's Hall in La Salle (near Monroe) is where we had ours.  Everything went really smoothly with them, and all their packages are around $40 pp.

I totally feel you on this one. FI entire family is from downriver and I spend A LOT of time down there. My friends and family are all north of that so when we were looking I was getting so frustrated. All the places I liked that were not downriver were out of my price range or just didn't appeal to me. We ended up switching our day to a Friday and going with The Henry Ford Museum. We both fell in love with it and by switching to a Friday it put it more in our price range.
We really liked Fox Hills too - it's out in Plymouth but I think they are more like $60-$70 pp....good luck and you will have to let us know where you end up! :)
