Job Openings?

Okay ladies, I've been looking for a new job since last May.  I currently work for a call center taking payroll questions.  I don't mind doing payroll, just can't do the call center thing where I'm being yelled at daily for things I have no control over.  I don't process the pay, I just see if it did or not.

I am looking for something clerial, administraive, secretary, receptionist, etc, but needs to be more than $12hr which is hard to find these days.  I also nanny part time (3-6) so if you know of a family looking for someone during the day I might be interested in that too (I charge $8hr for one child, $10 hr for 2-4).

My Masters will be in school counseling so if I could get into a school system, attendance office secretary or something like that would be good too. (many schools only hire from within unless you know someone).

I can forward you my resume but I would appreciate keeps eyes and ears open for me.  I don't know where else to turn, they cut our hours from 40 to 28-30 which is killing my paychecks.

I live in Clinton Twp and will travel about 30mins to work so about 10-15 miles (rochester, st. clair shores, chesterfield, RO, warren, sterling heights, grosse pointe, troy, clawson).

I think I gave all the info you may need.  Thank you everyone!!

not sure if it'll help at all but Independent Opportunities Of Michigan is hiring home care givers.
I know it isn't in the area you need/want and the pay is a little smaller but it's something extra maybe on the side.

    good luck finding something.

I'm not sure where you went to college, but mine (Walsh) had a really good career service, esp for people between their bachelor and masters degree. Check with your school to see if they have this.

I went to CMU, not sure how to go about that, I graduated from them in 2004 :/ but thank you for the suggestion, it's worth a shot.  I can't afford to pay off the rest of my bills and save for a wedding when my checks are getting smaller and smaller.

I checked my company's job postings. Nothing now but I'll keep you in mind. It would be like call center or admin.

Most colleges have job postings on their websites for secretaries/receptionists but you'll need to look them each up individually (like WSU, OCC, etc - think universities as well as community colleges). I know UofM has some AWESOME positions open for administration (paying $45,000) but that's a bit of a drive for you.

I know you'd rather find more of an admin position but I have an account at Sittercity.com and that's how I found my two nanny jobs. Best of luck! [:

Have you tried looking at Wayne State?  I work at the school of medicine and both have a lot of openings.

I live in Warren, and according to the Warren weekly local paper, the city has approved new contracts with their teachers. The new contracts allow for anyone retiring before 2013 to get their fully paid health benefits.........those retiring afterward will have copays, higher insurance costs, etc.

I know you are not looking for a teaching job, but it might be something to put on the back burner, as it's possible the counselors operate under the same contract (I don't know for sure)

Also, all the K-5 grade schools have onsite daycare before and after school for the kids in the school. I used them for both my kids.

The website to peruse jobs is here: http://www.wcs.k12.mi.us/content/dstemployment.htm

Of the current openings, there is a business office specialist in the admin bldg, various school office clerk jobs, a voc ed job at the CPC (this is the Career Prep Center on 15 Mile near Sterling Hts High, my daughter goes there for artistic pursuits), and they have several latchkey jobs.

Good luck! I know times are tough in this area for jobs, but I think asking on this board was a stroke of genius! We all work in various jobs and have ideas.
