Alterations - David's bridal vs somewhere else :)

I bought my dress from David's Bridal and at the time it fit perfectly. Since then i have lost some weight and it has to be taken in and I also need a bustle. I was just going to have them do it because it voids their policy on dresses if you alter it somewhere else plus they steam clean it I think but I have heard that they can be expensive. I live in West Bloomfield and am looking for somewhere that is in a 30min radius. I also have a couple of questions... Does it really make a difference who does the alterations as far as quality goes? Does anyone know about how much David's Bridal charges for alterations and are there places that are cheaper than David's Bridal? TYIA!!

From what I have heard Davids Bridal charges quite a bit for alterations. My fiances sister is getting married this friday and I had all her bridesmaids go see Pam for alterations she is much more affordable. She only charged 15 dollars to take in the bust of the bridesmaid dress and does everything else as well for not much more. She works at rags to riches on telegraph rd near west rd and her phone number is 3137700027. She will take good care you just like she has my friends and soon to be family. Good Luck!

I've heard the same regarding DB and from my most recent personal experiences there, they have horrible customer service.  I took my bridal gown to Bella's Alterations in Livonia after numerous previous brides had recommended Angela.  I actually just posted about it yesterday.

Another popular person for alterations is Michelle at the Wedding Shoppe in Berkeley.  I have my first fitting with her in week and booked her through the recs from this board.

I live right by there!  Do you know if she is recommended for altering wedding gowns (bustles and taking in dresses) as well?
