Reception Venue Appointments in Rochester & Troy!

I have two appointments tomorrow..

One at Oak Arbor in Rochester and the other at San Marino Club in Troy. Can anyone tell me about either of these from personal experiences or what they've heard from friends and family? The great thing about Oak Arbor is that they only do one event a day... unlike San Marino, which already has someone else holding the date I want and they said they could possibly accommodate both of our events (they have 3 rooms). I haven't found any bad reviews (yet) online so I wanted to hear from YOU!

Also, what are some questions that I may be forgetting to ask at these appointments?

Thank you all <3

Hi - there are some good Q&A's on vendors (questions to ask, things to look out for, etc) on the Knot Q&A section.

Check out the Vendor sticky (post at the top of the board with the little push pin next to it). There are lots of reviews about Detroit reception locations.

When I looked at reception locations, it was really important to me that I was the only wedding. I don't like sharing and you never know what kind of wedding/guests will be next to yours - that's not something you can control. Everyone has their own "dealbreaker" and this was mine.

I haven't been to an event at San Marino club, but my son's prom was there and he said it was great

Also, my cousin's daughter just had a wedding in Grand Rapids, and there were 2 rooms being used at the hall..............no biggie, our service was great, no complaints.

    **Popping in**

I just sent you a PM. Sorry so late. SMC is a great place. The rooms on the end can hold 220 ppl. Depending on your guest list, you shouldn't have any problems. There was another wedding there and they had over 350 ppl (they used 2 rooms). The middle room I believe can hold up to 350 (don't quote me on that). Hope everything goes well for you tomorrow.

Love, Love, Love San Marino Club.

My parents had their wedding reception there, my brother and I both had our communion receptions there, I had my prom there and a sorority formal too.  The food is always top notch, the service is fantastic, and I can't find a negative thing about them.  Ron (the manager) is great to work with.

Oh, and my wedding reception will be taking place there too :-) Good luck!
