What did you want to be growing up?  What did you go to school for?  And what are you currently doing for your job?

Growing up: I wanted to be a princess and an architect. School: I got my Bachelor of Accountancy from Walsh College. Now: I'm a CPA. I recently left public accounting and now I work for Ally.

Growing up: I have a book from kindergarden that says I wanted to be a bus driver

School: I got my Bachelor of Arts from UM in Communication Studies

Now: I work for Ford as a Parts and Service Zone Manager-- short version of what that is-- I work with Ford and Lincoln Dealers on customer sat and growing their business. My new job gets announced on Friday.

Growing up: I wanted to be a sports agent like Jerry Maguire or a brain surgeon.  The brain surgeon thing was all the way through high school until I realized I couldn't actually disect a person and I hate needles.

School: I graduated from Western Michigan University with a bachelor's of business administration in Supply Chain Management (Integrated Supply Mgmt is what we call it at WMU)

Now: I'm a buyer at Ford...so it couldn't be further than what I wanted to do in high school but it's exactly what I graduated from college to do.

Growing up: A back up dancer for Janet Jackson.

School: Journalism - newspaper and television. I have a BA in communications and a MA in broadcast journalism from Indiana University (Go Hoosiers!).

Now: I do communications (public relations) work for a special project at MSU.

Growing up:  A pharmacist, then a teacher

School:  I have a BA in Elementary Education from Concordia University.  I have my teaching certificate, endorsed in early childhood education and math.

Now:  I'm a paraprofessional educator in a kindergarten classroom at a charter school in Ypsi.  Right now, I'm actually long-term subbing while the lead teacher is gone.  When she comes back, I'll be back to para.  Hopefully this will lobby me into a full-time teaching job for next year.

Growing up:  teacher or a journalist

Went to School:  BA in Communication from State (I didn't know what I wanted to do when I graduated.  I just really liked the classes.)

Currently:  Working in an admissions office.

Growing up: A Nurse, then a pediatrician

School: I have my Bachelors of Accountancy from Walsh.  Working on my Masters of Finance

Work: I am an associate financial advisor working for a financial advisor.  Hence why I am getting my masters.

Growing up: I think I wanted to be everything at some point.  Notably a bus driver, teacher, or pediatrician.  When I was a little older I debated a lot between nurse and journalist.

Studying: Still in school  I feel like such a young-one!  I'm in my last semester of studying psychology and in the process of applying to graduate schools.

Current job: Waitress for now; I'm hoping to find a job in some sort of psychiatric hospital or social services institution after I graduate and while I'm in school - then in the future I'd like to be a counselor.

Growing up: I wanted to be a doctor.  Then I decided they have to go to school to long.  Anyway, joke's on me, since my PhD is taking longer than med school would have.

Studying: I have a bachelor's and master's in Industrial Engineering from U of M, and should finish my PhD from there this summer!

Current job: I am currently a full-time student.  In the fall, I am moving to Chicago to be a management consultant.

Growing Up:  A cartoonist (I wanted to make the comics in the Sunday papers.

School:  I have a BA in Digital Animation.

Now: I create digital vehicles for print ads, web assets, etc for ad agencies.

Not quite what I wanted to do, but still in the art field.

What did you want to be growing up?   A Dolphin Trainer at SeaWorld (which i did get an internship to be one but had to decliine because I couldn't afford it)

What did you go to school for?  Got my BA from Central Michigan University in 2004 in Psychology. Currently going to Capella University for School Counseling

And what are you currently doing for your job? My current job is in a call center, which pays the bills.  Hoping that where ever I intern at this fall and next spring will be a place I can eventually get a job.

What did you want to be growing up?   When I was real little I wanted to work at Kmart! I did for a while in high school.  What a really wanted to be was a teacher.

What did you go to school for? Got my BS in Elementary Education from Oakland and an MA in Education Leadership at Saginaw Valley.

And what are you currently doing for your job? Got laid off from Teaching after 4 years.  Now I am in the running for an Admissions Advising posistion.  Funny how it all works out!

Growing up:  A teacher or a dolphin trainer...it turns out teachers need patience and dolphin trainers need to be good at science...so neither would really work out for me   Or a wedding planner.

School:  I studied Hospitality and Tourism Management with an emphasis in meeting and event planning at Grand Valley.

Currently:  Well I lost my job as a Sales Manager at Staples 3 weeks ago over my boss trying to cover his own butt... and just yesterday I was offered a new job!  So now I am a Sales Advisor for Lifetime Fitness in Troy.  On that note, if you are looking to join a health club/gym, come see me...your membership would be valid at any of their locations in the area. 
I still want to be a professional wedding planner...so I keep telling FI he needs to hurry up and finish his criminal justice degree and get a good job working for the state so I can be a state at home mom (once we have babies) and wedding planner

Growing up: A writer, a teacher, or a marine biologist

School: Double majored in Marketing and Advertising 

Currently: Work in research and strategy at one of the top twenty ad agencies in the country, doing a lot of writing, presenting lectures to audiences like teachers do, and then doing scientific research like marine biologists.  It worked out nicely, except I work observe and report on humans rather than fish.

Now: I work for Volkswagen Credit and Audi Financial in the end of lease finance department. Could I possibly be farther than my degree??? I'm glad though...I love my job and the company i work for!

Growing up: A veterinarian/bagger at farmer jack... I thought somehow it made sense to do both lol

School: Dental Assisting Classes during high school, and Irene's school of Myomassology for massage therapy

Now: Dental Assistant, and a small group of massage clients... but in this economy I might have to fight for my dream bagger job  : )

What did you want to be growing up? I wanted to be an author for awhile then I changed my mind and decided I wanted to be a psychiatrist.

What did you go to school for? Well I failed all my psych classes freshman year... but I just graduated with a writing degree from Grand Valley. Guess it all worked out.

And what are you currently doing for your job? I'm in food service and I actually love it. I'm looking for jobs right now but I have an internship writing about celebrities online.

GROWING UP:  I wanted to be an Orthodontist and a principal dancer in the New York City Ballet

SCHOOL:  Attended University of Detroit Mercy for Bio-Chemistry and University of Michigan for Public Relations.

WORK:  After college, I spent several years producing events and promotions for General Motors until the collapse of the automotive industry.  Now, I am a fundraiser and event planner.

Growing up: I wanted to be a neurosurgeon since I was 5 until I was a freshman in college.  Before that I think I wanted to be a vet.

School:  I got my BA in psychology and biology with a concentration in neuroscience.  Soon I'll be going to grad school for my PhD in neuroscience.

Work: I am a research lab manager/tech in a preclinical addiction neuropsychopharmacology lab (I study drugs such as cocaine, meth, and ecstasy and the effects they have on the brain/behavior).
