Girls I am looking for a descent hotel in the Saint Clair Shores area for the out of town guests to stay in.

Any suggestions?

That area is tough, but if you just want decent, not elegant, there's a Red Roof Inn near the I-94 entrance off of Little Mack (I think). There aren't any main chains like Marriott, Best Western, Hilton, etc. Might be a Days Inn somewhere. Most of them will be off of I-94 though.

We found that most Courtyard Marriotts offer shuttle service.  We are using the Courtyard Marriott on Van Dyke, by the GM tech center and our reception is at Villa Penna by lakeside mall.  It is further than what we wanted, but they are willing to shuttle to and from the reception.  Also, not sure when your wedding is, but ours is 5 months away and we found out last week that alot of hotels are getting booked already!

@lcsnowflake - did you try the hotels at the Hall Rd / Van Dyke Expressway interchange.... we are having our reception at Penna's of Sterling and using the Hyatt Place in Utica, and they are giving us a free shuttle to/from.... not sure if you are already locked in, but it would be closer...

I think they just opened a Holiday Inn Express at I-94 and Little Mack...

Yeah our wedding reception is at 11 and Harper.
@ mattnjosie - I read reviews about that one and they weren't very good if I remember. It is only about a year old.

@lcsnowflake and mattnjosie - I will have to look into those two places becaue if I could get the guests shuttled back and forth to wedding and hotel that would be great and then I wouldn't have to worry about them driving so far.

    Thanks.

Also, did you ask your hall? Our hall gave us one hotel in the area that has a shuttle to/from; however, we chose to go with a different hotel because of the number of rooms.

mattnjosie   We wanted to be out by Hall road.  There is a cluster of hotels out there, but we waited to long and they are booked for our date.  Thats why we're going further away (its closer to the ceremony though).

I saw Courtyard Marriott mentioned above.  I'd stay away from Courtyards IMO.  I had a horrible experience with mine, and there have been quite a few negative reviews of the Courtyard on this site in the past.

Thanks for the heads up about Courtyard!

ETA: I checked the sticky and you're right- reviews were excatly what we're experiencing- they are slow to respond and you have to deal with a regional sales office.  The reviews about the free shuttle were good though!  We are getting the shuttle as long as we get 10 rooms booked, so we figure its worth the bad communication.  Once we have the block setup, guests can book rooms with the local hotel front desk.
melhunny - I'd be interested in any other insight you can provide about Courtyard. TIA
