reception pricing....

Please forgive my stupidity..buuuuut....if I remember correctly....use of the reception/banquet facilities is usually included in the food pricing, right?  Or is there an extra fee for use of the actual facility?  I am just speaking generally...so if its like $30/person...there isnt usually like a flat rate of like $2000 for just renting the facility...

I forgot how much I dont like researching the prices for vendors :(

it really depends. For instance - we wanted flat 151 originally and they have a RIDICULOUS $5000 rental fee PLUS you have to spend at least $5000 in food and beverage. insurance, security and parking were also mandatory add ons.

Some places charge a room fee - it can be anywhere from $50-$2000 on average and more in some cases.. especially if the place itself doesn't seve food.. for instance - the museum of Af-am history in detroit also charges around $2000 for reception space.

My venue waives the setup and room fee if you do a package deal, so I think it really varies place to place.

We just paid the room deposit $500 and then the pp (which was $36 + tax and gratuity).

I think it really depends. My venue does not charge a room rental fee, it is included in the price of the package I'm sure, but there is no additional fee on top of the food/beverage for use of the room. Lots of places do charge a fee though so it depends on the location that you pick. Definitely something that you want to ask each venue as you see them so that you can keep track and know which places charge for specific things (like room rental) and which do not.

Kendrajoy, I'd recommend going through the list of vendors at the top and PM-ing anyone who has a venue you might be interested in to find out the per person or rental fees. For us, with 100 people, Greenmead was perfect (max capacity 100) and we can bring in our own caterer & alcohol, allowing us to shop for best prices on that. The rental fee for both chapel & banquet hall was $1000 for Livonia residents (my fiance) and maybe only $1200 or so for non-residents.

    Good luck.
