I've heard very good things about Laurel Manor and they were at the top of our list when choosing a venue. They offer a lot of specials and include a lot in their packages which I liked and its a very nice place. The only reason we didn't have our wedding there is because for a summer wedding, I wanted someplace with a view and where we could take a lot of outdoor pictures, but if we had a winter or fall wedding I think we definately would have gone there.

Thank you guys so much, Min amount of people I am having is 50 But my list has come to 90. I can afford 75. If I get RSVP's back and its less then 50 do you think they would upgrade my package at all?

Did any of you go to the chappel next door?

Within 3 weeks of our wedding, we had a 45% no response rate, which was crazy. They worked with us sooooo much, because we invited 215 and ended up with less that 140. And 150 was the minimum for our room, which they originally moved down from 175 I think. They ended up charging us only for adults for drinks, charged some of the kids a different price, and didn't make us switch rooms. They were angels.

My florist forgot to leave me a toss bouquet and the waitstaff was so kind in rushing around, trying to find flowers, and making me a one.

My only complaint is that they were constantly asking my mom questions throughout the night, so she never got the chance to just relax and enjoy herself. I would make sure you designate a point-person for that night in case they have any questions, if that is a concern.

At some places, when you don't meet their minimums, they actually charge you like a dollar more per person because they have to make that money-- especially if it's a Saturday wedding.  There's a catering place we're looking at that charges an extra $2 pp if you don't meet the 50 person minimum.

I don't think they would upgrade your package if you have LESS than the amount of people they want. For example, if you are expected to pay at least $3000 for 50 people, and you say you're only going to pay $1800 for 30 people instead, I don't think they're going to upgrade you to something you would pay more.  I would call them to be sure though.

I've never heard of this at all... maybe since Laurel Manor is catering and venue all in one, it's not an issue, but I've heard of a LOT of wedding places upgrading your package if you have a low response rate....

Ditto this.  For the most part, they just want their $$ and I don't think they care how they get it.  We fully plan on adding extras if we don't meet the minimum $$ with just our guest count.
