Questions to ask Reception Venue

I just set up a meeting to talk to Meeting House Grand Ballroom for this afternoon at 3:30.

What questions should I ask??

    Yay! That is so exciting!

    What you should ask:

    *How much is the rental?
*Are you locked in at the prices you see today if your wedding is next year?
*How long do you have the hall till?
*When can vendors start setting up?
*How much is required to book the date?
*How many people does the hall hold?
*How many bartenders will be working the night of your wedding?
*Do they charge a cake cutting fee?

Really that's all I got right now. And I could probably answer every single one of those questions for you right now because I booked The Meeting House. But definitely ask in case they changed anything.

One thing I've wanted to call on and maybe you can ask while you are there is are they going to still allow smoking inside the venue even though the "No Smoking Ban" will be in effect as of May 1? They give you that option to make one of the rooms on the porch to be a smoking area (which we will forgo) but I was just curious what they were going to do about that.

    Corinne,

I will be sure to ask that for you. Smile

Randy answered the phone when I called, is he one of the owners? What is the lady's name again?  He asked me my date and told me it was available.

Randy and Mary are the owners. They are both so nice and will answer any questions you have! Good luck and let me know how it goes!

If you are having kids at the reception, be sure to ask if they will provide a separate meal like chicken strips or something.

Is there a minimum that must be met (number of people or dollar amount)?

That's all I can think of right now.

Maybe something about what their policy is on candles.  Do they allow candles?  Do candles have to be enclosed, etc.?

If you plan on DIYing any of the reception decor, ask about set-up time, can you do it the day before?
Ask if they have any specials or incentives to offer you.
Ask about vendor meals (people like your photographer will need to eat)

Just FYI they do have minimums for certain days of the week. I believe a Saturday reception in prime wedding season is 200 but you will have to double check. I loved this venue but we didn't meet the minimum.

I don't know if it will be the same for all venues but I booked mine after that law was passed and they told me there would be no smoking allowed inside.
