stockings - yes or no

Now that my veil and jewelry have arrived, and my dress is scheduled to ship today (yay!), I have a million thoughts racing through my head.  One thing I've been contemplating is if I should wear white stockings with my dress.  I've always kind of visualized myself in stockings with the dress, but I don't want to be committing a fashion faux passe.  My shoes are open toed, so I have read and hear that stockings are a no-no with open toed shoes.  Can I get input/advice?

Thanks.

Personally, I'd go with nude stockings if you're wearing open toed shoes.

go with nude stocking made for open toed shoes.  The nylon part stops at your toes, a loop around the big toes keeps them from moving.

With an open toed shoe the only real rule about stockings is no reinforced toe.

I personally think that white would be much more romantic since nude is more everyday wear.

I agree with cathtap... But how long is your dress? Can you even see your legs or no?

That is a good point.  My dress if floor length, so no, my legs really won't be seen.  I also feel like white stockings would be more romantic and would make me feel my best in the dress, so I think that's what I'm leaning towards wearing.

are you going to have any pics taken of your legs/shoes?  I've seen a few where the bride is spinning and her skirt comes up/out to the knees. Very cute.

Yes, I definitely plan on some pictures taken of my legs/shoes.

Well I'll definitely wear stockings.  I just need to decide on nude or white :)

Is it bad to NOT wear stockings?  My dress is heavy, and I will most likely be sweating.  The thought of wearing stockings at all makes me start to sweat....

I just asked today while at my fitting, specifically because of this thread.   The owner of my bridal salon said they are absolutely not necessary (at least for the dress I'll be wearing).  So, I have no plans to wear them.
