Plus size MOB dress?!?

My mom is frantically trying to find a store where she can try on dresses in about a size 16.  She is looking around Sterling Heights / Warren area.  She has tried Arena Bridal and could not find any dresses in her size.  She would like to go to a store where they have samples in sizes she could try on.  Does anyone have suggestions?  She is so flustered and upset, I thought I would come to the wonderful ladies on this board and ask for help for her!

TIA

Size 16 shouldn't be too big of an issue...Davids bridal should be able to accomodate that.

If you find a place that has samples for size 30+(my mother!), let me know. She is going to have issues.

My mom is a size 22-24ish and she bought a dress off the rack at Eva's Bridal in Garden City. They also have a discount extension of the shop right next to the actual bridal shop with extended sizes. They are really nice in there too.

You should also check out some department stores  - Macy's, Sears, JC Penny, Nordstrom, Lord and Taylor. I know JC Penny's has a pretty good selection of formal dresses in plus size. And they are pretty reasonably priced.

I'm a plus size MOB and just came from David's Bridal where I was able to try on a bunch of dresses in my size.  It helped me narrow down what styles I like and what looks good on my body type.  That way I can look at other places that may not have the size selection.  She may want to try that.

Allesandra's Bridal on Hoover, north of 12 Mile in Warren has some larger sizes I think. I've been in there a few times and bought a sample sale dress for my reception.

Also, check Nordstrom's Rack on Big Beaver west of Rochester Rd. I think they have a "women's" rack of formals on sale. Also, Great Lakes Crossing has several outlet stores, and Group USA which sells bridal & MOB dresses.

Online retail stores like Macy's, JC Penney, Lord & Taylor have larger sizes too. If you order from them online with their card, you can return anything to any of their stores and they'll give you a charge credit.

    Good luck.

My MIL was that size and we just hit the dept stores (like mentioned above) for her to try things on as well as Group USA. She ended up getting her dress at JCP when they had one of their many sales and got a STEAL on it!

Dont forget Lane Bryant and Catherines. Both have webpages and have dress sections. Call the different stores tho before you go because not all Catherines have Formal wear in store
