Random questions for pet lovers

How many pets do you have, or do you and your FI plan on adopting?  Is it at all dependent on where you live (ex - smaller or larger house, apartment, townhouse, yard size)?  Or dependent on how many children you want to have?

And, if you have more than one pet or are planning on getting one, was there any time period that lapsed before you adopted your second pet?

We adopted our cat almost exactly a year now and FI is already talking about adopting another one.  I personally don't really feel it necessary right now, especially since we live in a pretty small house and we have so much going on with school and wedding planning.  I'm not even sure how many pets I want to have total.

We have 2 pets...a 3 year old border collie (Connie) and a 9 week old kitty (Charlie). We got connie way too early in our relationship but I love that dog more than anything and the cat was my present for xmas because FI knew how much I wanted Connie to have a friend and 2 dogs are just too much! So now Connie and Charlie (they match by the way which i just love haha) are our pets!

We always talked about getting another dog but I doubt that will ever happen with kids coming etc etc

We have a 3 year old dachshund. The house we have right now really isn't big enough for more than one pet, but eventually I'd like to get a yellow lab or golden retreiver, because that is the kind of dog I grew up with.

We have an 8(?) month old kitten.  We're not sure exactly how old she is because she is a rescue and we've had her since she was just tee tiny.  But we LOVE her to death.  We can only have 1 cat at our apartment complex and no dogs are allowed.  If we had a house, I know we would definitely have a dog and I'm not sure if we'd get another cat. I think if it was up to FI we would have a farm with one of each animal and maybe start building Noah's Arc and getting them companions.  LOL.  We both love animals.  :)

We live together and have an 11-year-old Pomeranian, Habibi (I adopted her when she was 7, before we were together), and a 3-year-old cat, Fifi, who we adopted after we moved in. If it were up to me we would have at least 1 more cat, if not 2. But FI does not want any more (he hardly wants the one we have). We will ALWAYS, have a dog though. We agree on that. No more than one. I can't imagine Habibi having to share our attention with another dog!

Another thing keeping us from getting another dog is that my puppy is not even 2 and this may sound a little morbid or whatever but I don't want the chance of losing 2 dogs close to each other.  Is was tough to lose one this summer and I don't want to experience that anytime soon!

How many pets do you have, or do you and your FI plan on adopting?  We just have Lola Bear right now, although we consider our in-law's dog, Sassy, ours, too, lol.  They spend all their time together.  But realistically speaking, we have 1 that lives with us.

Is it at all dependent on where you live (ex - smaller or larger house, apartment, townhouse, yard size)?  Or dependent on how many children you want to have?  We have a baby and a puppy.  That's all we need at the moment.  When we were staying with DH's parents, they had a huge house and half the house was basically ours.  We wantedto get our own dog then since we had all the space, a huge fenced backyard, and he/she would never be alone.  We stopped looking when we moved out on our own last June.  We figured we are just living in a trailer by ourselves and the baby, but when we saw Lola Bear's picture on our friend's FB saying he rescued her and she needed a home, we couldn't resist.  If she hadn't been a rescue, we wouldn't have taken her in.

And, if you have more than one pet or are planning on getting one, was there any time period that lapsed before you adopted your second pet?  If we were going out of our way to adopt one, we would have waited till we had a bigger house with a bigger yard and after the baby was older.  I can see us getting one more pet as Lola and Bubbas (what we call the baby) get older.  Let's say it's in our five year plan.

How many pets do you have? We have 3 right now, 2 cats and 1 dog. Got each almost exactly a year after one another. (Got 1st cat in May '08, 2nd cat july '09, Dog, April '10)

Is it at all dependent on where you live (ex - smaller or larger house, apartment, townhouse, yard size)?  Or dependent on how many children you want to have?   Neither. If I could have more I totally would. It is most dependent on the cost. Pets, even cats, can get expensive. Also, FI keeps telling me no more pets b/c the number of animals in our house outweighs the number of people:)

And, if you have more than one pet or are planning on getting one, was there any time period that lapsed before you adopted your second pet? Like I said it was about a year in between each one. It was a little difficult at first getting them to get along and it was slightly stressful, but now they are best friends!!

We have 2 fish, a dog, and 2 degus (a kind of rodent).  After we figure out where we will be living while I'm in grad school we are thinking of adopting another dog if we can.  We got the dog first (adopted), while I was finishing my bachelor's degree I got the 2 fish for my desk since I spent so much time there.  I then adopted the degus after I graduated from the lab I worked in.  All are spoiled.

How many pets do you have, or do you and your FI plan on adopting?  We have a sheltie (Abby).  We rescued her about a year ago.  Is it at all dependent on where you live (ex - smaller or larger house, apartment, townhouse, yard size)?  Or dependent on how many children you want to have?   Our apartment actually allows for up to 2 pets.

And, if you have more than one pet or are planning on getting one, was there any time period that lapsed before you adopted your second pet?   We did actually have two shelties at one point, we rescued them a year apart from each other.  Unfortunatly, the first one escaped about a year ago and we never did find her.  We are sticking with only having one dog, since I don't want to replace our first sweetheart.  We still hope one day someone will call us and return her.

We have two dogs and two cats.  Its like a zoo in my house sometimes.
I adopted the cats together when they were kittens about 10 years ago.  I know that if I tried to introduce another cat into the house there would be big problems because cats are funny like that.  Cats don't like cats they don't know.  I remember living with my dad for a few months years ago and he had a cat.  The cats never all got along.  We tried putting perfume on all of them so they would smell alike, we put them behind doors so they could get to know eachothers smell, etc.... nothing worked.
Also, my mom tried to bring another cat into our home as kids and the cat we had at the time got so mad it started peeing all over everything.
If you are seriously considering adopting another cat I would go to the humane society or another shelter and talk to the people there.  They can tell you some of the tricks or ideas of introducing cats.

FI and I don't live together. I have 2 cats and a condo. I couldn't have anymore because my place is just too small. We hope to get 2 dogs as well when we have a larger home with a big backyard (a golden retriever and a little mutt from a rescue). FI is not a cat person, but he loves my boys!  When I got the first one, my sister lived with me and she had a cat. Then she moved out and I started working more, so I adopted my second kitty to keep my first kitty company.
