question about save the dates

When should I send out my save the dates for my wedding? The date is 9/22/12 and the shower is 7/28/12 but I don't know when to send out the save the dates.

You really don't need to send save the dates out until you are 6-8 months out.  However, if you are having a destination wedding you should send them out earlier so your guests have time to plan and get airfare, etc.

Agree with PP. If you are having DW send save the dates 1 year in advance. Wedding invites are usually 2 months before the date. Shower invites are usually 1 month before the date. However, all of these time tables may need to be adjusted to account for holidays, family events, etc. For example, if any of your events are or near a holiday, guests may need more advance notice, but it doesn't look like this is the case for you. I use the higher end of the range because that is what my family prefers.

6 to 8 months out, max if it's not a DW.  I always advise to send them out closer to the 6 month mark, because once you've sent out the STDs, you just locked in the guest list.  Relationships can change, but once they have an STD, they have to get an invite.

Agree with PP - unless majority of your guests have to travel for the wedding, there's really no reason to send it more than 6-8 months in advance. If you send out STD's 1 year in advance and relationships change, it makes for an awkward situation! lol (I mean, that could still happen if you sent them at the 6 month mark, but it's less time for things to happen) Best of luck!
