Hanging chinese lanterns

I would love to hang chinese lanterns from the ceiling of my reception venue and can not figure out who to hire to do this.  Has anyone had experience with this? Know of people to hire to do this? Or know how hard it is to do on your own?

Have you asked your venue if this is allowed?  If it is, you have 2 options:  1 ask if the venue will hang these for you.  If they won't, hire a Day of Coordinator (DOC) to set up the hall (including the lanterns) for you.

What kind of ceiling do they have?  If they have the kind where the boards move then hanging them would be really easy (tie string around each "pole" where you want a lantern to hang.  Just loop and tie a knot.  Or, tie them to paperclips and lift the tile and put the paperclip under it so just the string comes out of the ceiling).  If they have a plain ceiling with nothing but smooth paint on it, you could use the 3m adhesives and have that be your anchor for them (tie string around the lantern and suspend from the adhesive).  I've hung things either way before and it worked fine.

Thanks for the suggestions. They have a drop ceiling, so I think I am going to try the paper clip thing.
