Ceremony sites

So FI and I hit a road block in our planning.  We found a church that we love and would like to become members and get married there.  There is a possibility they will not marry us because we live together right now.  If this is the case, we have 3 options; seperate for 9 1/2 months (won't happen), have a small ceremony now with a vow renewal on our "Wedding day" (considered it but leaning away from this option), or find a new ceremony site.

Our reception will be at the Sheraton in Novi (8mile and Haggerty).  We would prefer a church near there.  Does anyone know of a church within reasonable driving distance that  may be wiling to marry us despite the fact we live together?

Are you looking for a specific denomination? It seems like every church has their own rules. Have you considered having your ceremony outside of a church?

Please don't do this unless you want to annoy some guests. I have a friend who has her wedding all set for August, but due to a similar reasoning got married at the JOP a couple of weeks ago. Maybe no one has told her directly how they feel about it, but I've heard her family and friends make some not so nice comments. Don't let that be you.

I would look for another church, although honestly most churches are going to have an issue with you two living together, or require you to have been members for a year on the day of the wedding, and it's too late for you to meet that requirement.

Can't you just tell the church you're living separately but not actually do that? Usually I don't advocate lying, and someone who is religious might hate me for saying this, but it just seems like a silly requirement to me, I don't see the harm in telling a little white lie. But that is just me, I understand others might feel differently.

Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Livoina (on 6 Mile between Merriman and Middlebelt) that will allow you to rent the church for a fee. You do not have to be a member and their fee is fairly small. Check it out.

You don't say how many people you expect, but you can rent the chapel at Greenmead Village (8 Mile & Newburg Rd, about a mile from your reception). It's owned by the City of Livonia, holds up to 100 people. I think renting the chapel only is about $300, varies if you are resident or not.

Link in my blog below, under "vendors", with pics. Also, they have fabulous gardens for pics before or after the ceremony.
