Bridal suites??

Ok - as much as I know about Detroit.. I've RARELY stayed in a hotel there. Any recs for wedding night accommodations - somewhere Downtown? I'd like to check us in early before heading to the venue.. since I don't have to be there until 5pm.

I know the marriot in the rencen.. but anywhere else? That has better parking, accommodations, etc?

There's hotels that are really nice in all of the casinos, or there's the new Book Cadillac...those are pretty nice too.  I've also stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn which is RIGHT downtown, and pretty nice too, although I'm not sure if they have suites or not there. HTH!

We liked the suites at MGM...I dont have anything to compare it to as far as Detroit goes...but we liked it :)

I have been to a suite at MGM - but I remember them being like $350-500 a night. Does that sound familiar? I don't think I want to spend that much.. we're thinking about escaping to Chicago or Toronto for a few days after the wedding - so we need to stretc our funds.

I suggest the Omni River Place or Greektown Casino ( I heard they have really come down on their prices since they opened)...

Detroitgyrl, the Atheneum is VERY nice, fiance & I stayed there last August on our "first date" anniversary. The suites are lovely, and they have some sort of romance package with champagne and chocolates. Pretty reasonable.

You can also have breakfast/brunch at Fishbones, which is attached.

NOTE: If the Tigers have a home game the day of your wedding, there are a lot of fans that stay at any of the downtown hotels. Since next year's schedule isn't available yet, no way to know.

Thanks Detroitbride - I will check both of those out. I've been to greektown - but we weren't in a suite.

Ahh - good advice Sue.. I need to keep that in mind.

I'm bringing this back up.. I tried greektown - more than once.. they gave me the runaround.. never responded to my email and have yet to return my phonecall (they eventually sent me to voicemail)...

There IS a game wedding day.. YIKES! Maybe a different hotel locale outside of greektown would be better - although I liked that it was so close to everything. :-/

Any luck with others out there knotties?!?
