Opinions please

Do you think this dress would look good on women of the following sizes:

5' 10" street size 2
5' 3" street size 8
5' 3" street size 16
5' 3" street size 20

Thanks!!!!

    Satin?
  • edited December 2011
I do. As long as they are wearing proper garments underneath. Stain is a little tricky if it doesn't have any stretch material in it.

My larger girls opted for strapless. They felt those fit & looked the best.

Sorry I forgot to mention the fabric will not be the shiny satin looking stuff but a chiffon-like material. They call it nu-georgette (sp?) but in person it looks matte and flows like chiffon.

That's interesting, all 4 of the ladies said they wanted straps and didn't even want to try on strapless. I wonder if they'd be pleasantly surprised?

And I meant "satin".. but anyway..chiffon is a safe fabric. Two of my girls are 20's and chiffon looks amazing on the size 2's and 20's.

my sister is in the 20s range as well & she lovedddd the chiffon material. I have PIB of my BM dresses.

    In chiffon - yes.
Satin would be another story though. I have found that satin dresses with the empire waist (or band going around under the chesticles) often creates a pregnant belly look, but chiffon didin't have the same effect.

That is very similar to the dress I wore over the summer. Except the top part on ours was chiffon like the bottom. The dress looked nice on all of us (varying sizes). Be conscious of larger chests though. That was the area of the dress that I really didn't like on me. I had to have Hana make a small panel at the V out of the fabric she took off of the bottom of the dress to make me feel a little less self conscious. Here is a pic of all of us in the dress. It's very similar to the one in your pic.

Agreed with PP- and proper undergarments underneath are a must no matter what dress or fabric you choose.  8-12 hours in a dress/bra/hose combo is a pain for anyone, it should fit right.

I wouldn't be pizzed if you made me wear that! haha

I think it's really pretty and if it is that flowy material I think it will look great with proper undergarments!

Proper undergarments are a girl's best friend regardless of size. Everyone carries their weight differently, so it would really depend on your plus size friends. I would've liked it when I was a size 20, but my fat was well distributed. That is a very pretty dress!

I'm about a 20 and I would be fine with that dress.  What color are you going with?

No, ours was Mori Lee, Ava Collection #416. But it does look almost identical.
