F/U to Professor

So I met with my professor this morning. It went really well. Going in I figured that if he was going to make an offer, I would probably be out of his budget since I been told this before. I was right, he just can't afford me. So good thing is I do well for what I do, bad news is that I may just be stuck here unless I am willing to take a pay cut.

Aaargh, it sucks to be great at your job and not have a market that keeps your pay where it should be. I'm in the same boat and have thought of going out on my own, but for now I need the health insurance for my kids. After we marry I can get on my fiance's Tricare veteran benefits which are good, and my kids can too.

Bummer! At least you know you are great at your job. Hopefully something better will come along.

I know. It took me awhile to realize it didn't mean that F/U and I was always really confused.

Aww, well that is good news. Kind of a double edged sword, eh? Something better will come along, I'm a true believer of that now. Keep your head up, keep smiling and you will get everything you want out of life, I know it!! :)

It was a very good confidence booster. Our meeting really didn't even feel like an interview so it was nice.

Its a good thing that I am happy with the position where I am at, for the most part. If that ever changes though I may be willing to take a pay cut and then maybe contact him in the future.
