Unobtrusive Videographer Recommendations

Hi y'all!

I recently got engaged and am looking for someone to possibly point me in the right direction.  My fiance and I currently live in Dallas however, our wedding will be taking place in the Detroit area because that is where his family is from.  We are having 350-400 people at our wedding. There is nothing more important to us than having a great videographer at our wedding.  I am sure there are a lot of companies that do beautiful work in the area however, we really want to have our day videod without noticing they are there.  My friend got married recently and it seemed like the photo/video people were constantly posing or putting the camera in our faces.  This is NOT what we want.  We want them to be invisible.  Are there any recommendations or advice you can give on this matter?  Not sure exaclty where our wedding will take place but it will be in the Detroit area.

Thanks so much!!

Jenn

Re: Unobtrusive Videographer Recommendations

  • So Im getting married next Oct and a videographer wasnt even on my mind, until one day at work I was told to look at this website and I was absoluetly amazed! From this point on I had to have a videographer, I have showed everyone and there mother this website and I get emotional every time I see it... Its a husband and wife who own it, her name is Rebecca. I have met her in person and put down my deposit and I am so happy that I have this for my wedding. The website is called www.516cinema.com the video on the very first page is what made me book alone. There are also other videos in her blog. Let me know what you think!

  • p.s if you do check out her blog, make sure you watch Ryan and Samantha, i do not know them at all, but there video is my faviorte! lol
  • Did you try asking your photographer for recommendations? They're usually picky as to which videographers/cinematographers they'll work with because they also want someone who is invisible. We're not going with a traditional videographer, so I can't help beyond that. :)
  • We used artistic video productions. He did not interdere with the day at all. In fact, I forgot he was there! I was really happy that he stayed out of the way. I did not want someone in my face all day. There were only maybe 2 times where he talked to me or posed me to get a shot.

I also looked at 11-4 productions and Video Magic. Video magic did my sister in laws video and I really liked it. His work is good, but he's expensive.

  • We used Mike Staff, Wil was our videographer. He was great and sort of followed around the photogs, who ran the show. Got great coverage of our entire ceremony, and also the 'romantics' of us walking around and doing photos.

We got a bit of a deal because we also used Mike Staff for DJ. I was less impressed with their DJ skills, but like our video a lot!
