Thanksgiving Day Food Poll

I have never really been a huge turkey fan. My mom usually makes Jamaican food for thanksgiving and my brother will be doing the same.

What do you usually have for thanksgiving?

1. Turkey dinner
2. Pizza ( I could do pizza)
3. Your ethnic food

We've always done turkey dinner. With my family, and now with FI's family. It's a HUGE ordeal. I sometimes wish it wasn't such a big production. It's exhausting.

    Mornin'

We do the traditional turkey dinner.

P.S. What the heck happened to TK while I was gone?! I don't deal well with change ;(

We do usually have the whole turkey deal but we do always have some italian food too - either ravioli, lasagna or braciole.

Traditional turkey dinner but I agree, the turkey is my least favorite part. I'd rather eat appetizers and sides but that is true 365 days a year for me.

We do the traditional turkey.  But I actually prefer more of the sides (green beans, mashed potatoes, etc.) and I prefer the turkey leftover.  FI and I are trekking to both sides of the family this year...exhausting.  I am jealous of anyone who gets to stay home and relax!

Turkey dinner has been the tradition at both mine & FI's family. However, turkey isn't what I look forward too - I love the pies!

We have turkey dinner. And sometimes we have a ham or something. But both my family and FILs make a huge deal out of Thanksgiving. It is ridic.

We also do the traditional turkey dinner with mashed potatoes, cranberry, green bean casserole and all that stuff.  I just looked on WW too, and my "traditional turkey dinner" (complete with pumpkin pie) is a total of 29 points - that's 5 more than what I'm allowed in a day.  Whoops, and oh well!  :)  It's one day a year!

So...what kind of Jamaican goodness will you be having to eat???  Smile

traditional turkey dinner. but we obviously have our own spin on everything like most families. mom and i have tried to make it a little healthier (without cutting all of the butter lol), we dont do green bean casserole or marshmallows on the yams.

we just do everything from scratch minus getting raw yams. they're a pain in the ace, and since they're dad's favorite we try not to mess with success.  if he loves canned, he gets canned lol.
and sometimes we cheat and get the bagged cubed stuffing. it depends on how we feel from year to year/how much vacation we can take.

our family tradition is really the pies. my gma was a baker, and my mom has family-famous pie (really her crust is the best pie crust i've ever had- better than my gma's). in fact, i dont eat pies unless they're "family-pie." everything else is a disappointment.

Traditional turkey dinner and sides - cooked by moi if we are  home. My sis calls it the "four-starch menu". Sometimes a goose instead of turkey. Turkey can ONLY be fresh, and I often try to buy from local farms. As I cannot eat such things as citrus and cheese, I am also picky about the sides.Oh, wait - I am always picky about the quality of my food. :-)  If we go to the cousins, I don't eat much because they gunk everything up with canned onion crumbs, cheese whiz, and other non-food substances.

Oh yeah, one other wrinkle my sis devised. Korean kim-chee is an amazingly yummy condiment for roast turkey! I am not kidding. If you are near an Asian market, get some and try it.
