I'm looking for a good campgound with lots of wooded area in michigan. Any suggestions?

If you are willing to travel...Pictured Rocks in the UP is AMAZING.  Great hiking, so beautiful.  Also, closer to here..I have heard that the Pickney State Park is pretty great.   FYI, REI in Northville is having a garage sale on Saturday (the 2nd) at 9AM.  If you have never been to one of their garage sales, I highly recommend it!  You can get a lot of barely used stuff for way discounted prices.

Proud Lake Recreation Center in Commerce Township.  Pretty lake for canoeing, swimming and fishing.  I've been there many times and had a great time!

We usually go to SugarLoaf campgrounds in the Chelsea area. There are some nice trails and it is on a lake and has a little park.

I second Pictured Rocks in the U.P.- although I'm partial, since we got engaged on a beach there by one of the campgrounds! There are all kinds of state campgrounds in the U.P.- some of which have showers and stuff.

Our favorite spot is the Gaylord KOA in Gaylord.
Rustic sites, wooded, they just put in cable throughout all sites this past fall, so you have a mix of modern and rustic.
Very friendly owners, and just a beautiful, quiet, low-key Northern Michigan beauty to chill and relax on a summer or fall weekend.

I've done a lot of camping in my life (just about every family vacation), and my all-time favorite campground (and now FI's favorite too, since we went there together last summer) is Young State Park in Charlevoix.  It's a "modern" campground, so it's got flush toilets and showers and everything (which is a must-have for me), but it's also nice and wooded.  They have lots of trails you can explore, and a great beach on Lake Charlevoix (which gets significantly warmer than lake Michigan, so you can actually go for a comfortable swim!).  I highly recommend it!
