New Knottie and Dress Shopping

Hey all!
My name is Amy and my fiance and I are getting married in 354 days! (June 23, 2012). I live in Harper Woods and he lives in Grosse Pointe; I moved to Detroit this past August to teach 3rd grade in the inner city - and am still learning the area. I could use your help!
 I have recently started my Knot account and began the big-details planning. Next on the agenda is beginning to dress shop. I know that I want a summer dress for next year, so here are the questions:
1) What weeks in the late summer (end of July? early August?) do shops typically have their summer lines go on sale?
2) In the Detroit area, what are some of YOUR own suggestions for great Bridal salon stores that aren't outrageously expensive?

Welcome to the board weekend twin!  As for your question, I have no idea about sales.  What do you define as outrageously expensive?  I've seen dresses from $99 to $10,000.  For my recommendations though I recommend Brides by Demetrios (I got my dress there), Alessandra's, and Arena Bridal.  All of those have a number of dresses below $1,000.

Welcome!  I am no help when it comes to dresses since I bought my dress not-locally.  But you said you moved here, where did you move from?

I second Allesandra's. They are on the east side, on Hoover Rd just north of 12 Mile. They are very nice, friendly, most of the gowns there are under $1000, I bought a sample gown in September for a summer wedding this August.

I bought my dress at Dior, which is in downtown Dearborn. They were decently priced -- I found several under $1,000 though I don't think I found any under like $500.

There's always David's Bridal, too!
