Tent and Ceremony Rentals

Hi Knotties,
My FI are having an outside wedding in Plymouth at Kellogg Park in August and we want some reassurance if it rains so we were thinking about a tent? Does anyone know of any places that have tent rentals and ceremony decor rental too? I was thinking of renting an arch and other decorative options from a florist. I got a quote from "Your Event Party Rental" in Plymouth they want about a grand for chairs, an arch and tent rental for 150 people. Has anyone gone with them?  Their tent policy is you rent it and you can't cancel it and you have to pay for it even if you don't use it. Is this standard practice for tent rental? Just wondering? We figured it is a gorgeous out then we wouldn't put the tent up. I need some help ladies! Give me suggestions I need them...

Thanks,

Nicole

i'm not sure on price/policies since i'm not having an outdoor wedding/reception. However, i think if i did, regardless of weather i'd still like to put one up. for 1- Michigan is HOT (in the summer i assume?) and the humidity and rays alone can make anyone sweat through their clothes, so having a tent up will help cut back on that a little. Also, i love the feel of a tented reception outside. You could dress it up so nicely with laterns, lights, etc. I would suggest if the weather is nice to still have the tent up. If you want tables not under the tent you could do bar tables (the taller cocktail ones) around the outside of the tent, ive seen that before and it's very pretty.
Also i think a huge thing to consider having are beautiful linens when having an outside reception. (although i'm sure you already thought about that)

It might help if you were more clear in your needs.

You mentioned the ceremony is in Kellogg Park and wanting a tent, arch & ceremony rentals. Is this just for the ceremony? Were you having an indoor reception somewhere else?

I looked into rentals of these items as I am having a tent outdoors for my reception only, this August 27th, at Greenmead Village in Livonia. Our caterer took care of the details, and I don't know who the vendor is that they are using.

    Tent: 20x30 $275
Dance floor 12x12 under tent $333

The rest of my rentals are linens & utensils, as we have chairs & tables from the venue.

I do have a spreadsheet I made up of rental places if you want to post your email address here, or you can PM me and put it in the PM, I"ll send it to you. I did it last year, so I don't know if these companies prices went up.

It is pretty standard that they charge you regardless of need. In other words, they won't put rental items "on retainer" for you, only to have them cancelled the day before because the weather is going to be perfect. Something else you can do if this is just for the ceremony, and only a weather related necessity, is buy 3-4 tents that are called "carport" tents. If you google them you can usually find them for sale around $100 each. You'd have to have someone put them up and take them down.

I found a company who seems to offer the best price.  The website is perrystentsandevents.com.  I'm still debating if I should get a tent or not but if I do get one I'll be using them.
