DIY Wedding Invitations

For those of you who have done DYI wedding invites please answer this question for me. I bought some invires from Michael's and they open up and there's a pocket for the reply card and such. To seal the envelope all i was given was a sticker. Is this sticker good enough to make sure the envelope doesn't open up, loose info and get destroyed?

The OUTER envelope seals with just a sticker?  You really can't lick them or anything?  I'd be nervous about mailing them that way.

Just a word of advice....please please please do a test run with these invite kits.  I bought 6 kits of programs because they were perfect for my colors and I about killed someone trying to get these things to work.  I have a decent quality printer, but it wouldn't feed the paper properly.  I would put a couple pieces in and each piece would print differently -- some bleeding off the top and some bleeding down the bottom.

I am not saying they don't work -- one of my friends just did all her own invites with kits from Michaels and she didn't have a problem.  But I would test it out in advance just so you're prepared.

I actually have them all printed and nothing bad happened. I'm asking because a co-worker of mine got an invite just exactly like mine but the colors were different and it was only sealed by the sticker and it was fine. I was looking for other reassurance. maybe i'll use double sided tape to tape the sides to be safe.

I agree with PP, I would use something else in addition to the sticker that was provided in  your kit. I've received torn up pieces of mail (in the not so nice clear plastic envelope from the post office) because the invite got stuck in a machine.

I'm not saying this will happen to yours, but I wouldn't mail anything with just an envelope seal.

From what it sounds like, they are pocketfold invites.  You would put the sticker to close the pocketfold, then put it inside a separate envelope.

Pocketfolds are not meant to be used as envelopes.

I'm not using those, but I've received one in the past (the "self-mailers") and the seal had been broken. Maybe try printing out your own wrap label that will go around the front and the back...?

I think using tape is going to take forever.  Maybe just buy some different envelopes that you can lick shut like normal.

I can't do that. The envelope is part of the invite. once you take the sticker off the envelope opens up and the invite is visible with the pocket on the left side. I can't buy another envelope for it because then I would have to get them custom made. and no i can't lick them shut. I'll just use double sided tape to make sure.
