Chocolate Candy Molds for Favor

I am trying to think of inexpensive favors. I am okay with the idea of not doing a favor at all, but then I thought I could do something like this...

Make chocolate molds of a wedding cake, swan, rings, etc. (Probably only 2 kinds).
Put our colors into them and possibly a lollipop stick. Then cover them in cellophane and wrap with a thank you and a ribbon.

Has anyone ever done this? How much did it end up costing? I don't make a lot of the chocolate molds, but I have no idea how much chocolate I would need. But before I start I wanted to get an idea of costs.

Also - Anyone that has done this before - any pros/cons after having done this?

I found the One Stop Candle website to be very helpful. They tell you  what you will need for supplies (lolli sticks, pounds of chocolate, cellophane wrapping, etc) and sell it all on their site, plus they offer free basic instructions, which helped me. I ordered the anchor molds and am going to make chocolate lollipops for favors. Seems pretty easy so far! HTH!

I'm doing cookies but I think I'm going to order them from a bakery and just wrap them myself. I believe it is going to cost about $100-130. I want to do custom colors and a monogram and I don't have enough faith in myself to do the frosting perfect haha

Good luck with the chocolate! Sounds good! :)

We're doing cookies, too. It's going to cost about $170 for 13 dozen. I got ribbon and cellophane bags for about $10 to wrap them myself and am going to print my own favor tags on paper I already have to save $.

They'll look like this without the white in hot pink & teal. :)

I'm doing the chocolate favors for my shower although I had considered using some for the wedding too. I actually thought chocolate covered pretzels might be cute too since pretzels are inexpensive and I wouldn't have to worry so much about the molds working :-) I don't plan to spend any more than $100 for chocolate/pretzels/bags/thank you tags. Even if I do this for the wedding, I can't imagine it would cost any more than that :-) Good luck!!!

we did the chocolate favors for the shower.  actually we made them part of the centerpieces.  i don't think it was too expensive to make.  And you can get the chocolate at Michaels and always return what you don't use.

You might want to consider this, which is something I did for a holiday party for my fiance's family:

I bought metal Xmas cookie cutters (trees, angels, stars, mittens) and put them on sheets of foil on a cookie sheet. I then filled THEM with the melted chocolate, put sprinkles on top, popped them in the freezer to harden quicker, and wrapped them in bags with ribbons. That way the guests could pop the chocolate out themselves, AND have a cookie cutter for later.

I'm sure you could find "all purpose" metal cookie cutters in smaller sizes and do the same. A wedding cookie cutter probably wouldn't be useful for your guests, but stars, circles, squares, hearts and diamond shaped ones might. You could use white chocolate and sprinkle them with edible glitter or sprinkles in your wedding color.

Found this site with various shapes. Small ones are less than a dollar each

Good luck (if you want to do this)
