Big decision to make this week... HELP!

Fiance and I have been checking out different halls.  I have fallen in love with MacRay Harbor, and didn't think anything could top it!  then we went and looked at Blossom Heath...  it didn't necessarily top it, but definitely gave me something to think about.  My biggest problem is, while we were at Blossom Heath someone else called requesting to book for our exact date which is October 20, 2012.  They tell us that they can only hold it for a week for us.  I don't know if I can make this decision in a week!  Has anyone else booked at either of these sites?  What do you like, or not like, about them?

Any help or words of advice you can give me, would really be appreciated! Smile

I went to a wedding many years ago at Blossom Heath, and it was wonderful!

I guess it depends on the "style" you like I think MacRay Harbor is more modern, while Blossom Heath is more traditional.

I worked at Blossom Heath for years and FI and I keep our boat at MacRay, so I'm very familiar with both venues.  The best advice I can give you is that Blossom Heath will never disappoint in terms of food while MacRay is only so-so on many occasions.  The views at MacRay are far superior to Blossom Heath, but that's about the only thing that Blossom Heath is lacking.  There are no accommodations very close to either venue so if the view (or Lake St. Clair) is really, really important to you, then MacRay will make you the happiest.  However, Blossom Heath is a can't miss.

HTH and feel free to let me know if you have any questions about either place.  Maybe I can help.

Thanks ladies!  I think I'm leaning more towards Blossom Heath!  I love the fact that the buffet is set up in a separate room, so that my guests never have to see it set up or taken down.  I also must agree with July032011 about the dance floor, it's really beautiful!

    Thanks Again!!!!!

My aunt had her reception at MacRay's in summer 2009 and it was fabulous! You probably won't have yourself the same problem in October BUT the only thing I did not like was while we were dancing the night away, there were people (not wedding guests) in the pool/hot tub outside and when you're dressed up in wedding attire and stare outside to a hairy man in a speedo.. it is kind of a buzz kill, haha

    Best of luck! xo

Summer 2008 I went to a wedding at MacRay's and it was great. The food was good, its very pretty, and  the staff was nice as well.

I was at a wedding at MacRay in September when some type of electrical fire broke out everyone from all the weddings in the facility had to be evacuated.  Fire depts from a few different jurisdictions had to respond.  It was still a very nice wedding, but I heard that it was not the first time it happened.  I would at least ask them if they had corrected the problem.
