The dress is here - and some questions!

I love love love it! And it fits! It'll need to be hemmed so it's true tea length on my height and I'll be taking some of the crinoline out. I'm pretty nervous about finding a seamstress that can do the hem as it is a prominent feature on the dress. Any input on Bella Alterations and hem changes? Other alteration recommendations near the Wayne/Westland area? Does anyone know if bridal salons will do alterations on a dress that was not bought in thier store?
I look silly because I was twirling :)

I'll be wearing these fabulous shoes: http://www.zappos.com/multiview/7689383/12664

So excited :)

ETA: Should have mentioned that I scoured the stickies and didn't find many leads as it seems many brides went with a friend/relative or their bridal salon for alterations. Thanks!

I like the flower details and your shoes; they'll look great with your dress.  I don't have any alterations tips but maybe try the stickies up top?

My only advice would be do not try and go to a bridal shop for the alterations.  I don't know that I've ever heard a good thing about the alterations part of bridal stores.  Go somewhere that is a tailor/dedicated alterations place.

</div><div>Thank you! The designer is Justin Alexander:</div><div><a href="http://www.justinalexanderbridal.com/product-detail.php?id=236&entity_id=586">http://www.justinalexanderbridal.com/product-detail.php?id=236&entity_id=586</a></div><div>
</div><div>It's usually shown in the coffe color but I ordered it in ivory. I had to email the designer to find a sample of the dress near me and ended up having to drive to Lansing to try it on and order it - totally worth it!</div>

Last summer/fall alot of girls were using a lady named Mary that has a studio out of her home in Garden City. She was very highly recommended. I think it was called La Valle Bridal Alterations. I googled and this is the number. 734.513.6645

Myself, I did my alterations at a bridal shop, they did a good job but the price was absoultely ridiculous.

Bella Alterations is great. I had my dress altered there and they went above and beyond, and I paid way less than many brides I know who had less done. I highly recommend them.

That is a GORGEOUS dress, and so flattering on you!

I can't make a recommendation on alterations, but wonder what it is about the hem that is a "prominent featuer of the dress"? From the pic you posted, it just looks like layers of tulle. Is there something else going on underneath, ie a lace underlayer or lace along the bottom of an underlayer? The reason I ask is that for myself, and my daughter, we've had dresses with layers of tulle, and just did a nice cut on each layer separately to shorten them.

    Good luck.

I ditto Ms Nobody on Bella Alterations.  They did my dress -- full review in my bio.  Angela is AMAZING.  I didn't have a hem done, so I can't give the costs, but the costs for what I did have done were very reasonable.

Ditto japow. Mary was amazing and did most of the BP alterations. She's so nice and her prices are very reasonable.

<div>Thank you! You're right - the skirt is just layers of tulle but since it's tea length I just wanted it done well since I think people will be looking at /commenting on the fact that it's not a floor length dress. I can barely sew so I have no clue the skill involved with doing a good hem :)</div>
