ideas for honoring your parents during the ceremony or reception

I would really like a way to honor my parents (their marriage and everything they've done for me) somehow at our wedding. Any good ideas for either the ceremony and/or reception?

-A nice note in the program
-Having the pastor say something in the service about how much their marriage has influenced you and set a good example.  You could also take a moment to give them hugs or a flower during this point in the ceremony
-Have an anniversary dance at the reception

I agree with Abbey. We are doing a flower ceremony to our parents during our reception, basically just a moment where we recognize their importance in our life and present our moms with a single rose

We are also thinking about doing an anniversary dance. My parents have been married for 37 years, his parents have been married for 36 so it will be nice to see how many couples have been married longer than them.

Do it!  I loved the anniversary dance.  My grandparents, who I have never, EVER seen dance even went out for it (they're 87!) and they won pretty handily... they've been married for 64 years : )

In addition to that, I think having an anniversary dance was one of the reasons that SO many people danced at the reception.  It just seemed like they had already "broken the ice" by going out to dance once, so they could keep going back out no problem.

We're doing an anniversary dance as well and using my parent's song to dance to.  They never danced at their wedding so they will finally be able to dance to it :)

Dumb question but what is an anniversary dance?

It's where all the married couples are invited out on the dance floor.  Then the DJ starts saying, "If' you've been married more than a year, keep dancing."  Then 5 years, 10 years, etc etc until only one couple is remaining (generally.)
